This is the third CGI Whirlwind project that has failed, due to the dreaded “Curse of the Whirlwind”
Is it a problem with information or a problem with the software..Have found many times that the software will have shortcomings in areas.Instead break the model down to its basic structure, fuselage, wings, tail, nose and cockpit, engine nacelles and undercart. That will help us tinbashers slice those parts up for bulkheads, ribs, spars, engine bearers etc.Getting the skeleton right makes life a lot easier later on.
Don,t think it,s a mystery. When the USA entered the war I think they standardised the radio gear. The same radios were used in P40,s etc here in Australia.Have seen them used in P47,s as well.
Must be in that HUGE underground Nuclear proof Bunker that Bernie was talking about
Or they didn,t dig deep enough at Archerfield maybe?
59 still to account for…The plot thickens.
Mon dieu, vous l’entendez, n’est pas vrai et juste un conte de fées
Curiouser and curiouser…
Totally blown away by the info..
Thank you Oakeylad..Hope you are local so we have a chance to meet and exchange notes. We do have a set of half oleos of what we believe are Seafire in storage. One from our collection.
Standard Spade grip, oxygen regulator cover, kigass primers..Looks pretty generic so far..We need plans with datum lines to begin with, then tables to flesh out the fuselage shape or could you go off a good model kit..What NACA is the aerofoil?
It’s easy to criticize on a forum but committing scant resources, manpower and money to rebuilding such a wreck is not the best idea.
If the RAAF wont we will 🙂 Err hang on…

LZ844 a Mk V, but with Mk VIII bearer, cowlings and four blade prop.
Personality clashes aside, logically this is the Spitfire, LZ844, that should latterly have been acquired by the RAAF Museum and ‘gone through’ to bring up to Mk V display condition. It wasn’t perfect by any means but it was likely to be the best chance for the RAAFMus to fill a very large hole in their collection.
Give that man a beer
They allready have the remains of one BR545 from memory , what ever happened to it , it has never being on display .
Fizzed away like an Aspirin..Don,t think there is very much left.Mark12 might have the answer.
Did anyone spend 20 quid and take one home?
One P40 went to Mount Tyson but was later scrapped and 5 Spits went into Toowoomba to Martin spares to be pulled apart and scrapped.Ross Campbell got the remaining bits out of Martins workshops in the 80,s IIRC for Lz-842
Well they already have a tank built ready for it..They just have to empty out the remains of the last Spit they had in it.:diablo:
