Its a jigsaw puzzle, all we can get is as close as we can get with info we have got. When more stuff comes available then the jigsaw will come together better.
Discovered these books the other day, first 2 volumes arrived today. Absolutely fanbloodytastic!
Sweeeeeet:) Know what I,m buying:)
Thank you!!
With Westlands I would assume the drawing standard would be the same throughout the factory.I,m talking about datums, waterlines, frame spacings etc…Anything from the Lysander drawings would give us something to work on.
Best of luck!!Hope you recover soon to provide us with Spitporn 🙂
Nice pic,seen it before somewhere…..juuuuust can,t remember wheeeeere 🙂
the impact site was now under a rockery feature in a front garden of a rather large house in a decidedly up-market area!
What an odd place to put a rockery..On top of an aircraft…:D
Not sure if it,s going here but would make a nice addition.

Then I found more, and it got slightly more worrying
Trees!!!!:eek::eek:
Is there enough info and outlines on a Perrigrine to be able to do it ?.
There is virtually nothing on the web.A trip to Rolls Royce or Hendon might be in order.
That units in a Cad system are arbitrary is key. I could be working with something that is miles across in dimension or nanometres across. It makes no difference within the Cad system. It’s when the data has to come out of the Cad system into the real world that the problem starts. In the real world units matter and they cannot be arbitrary.
Amazing work,hope it grows 🙂
With the CAD work we do for the Spit we “Always” leave a couple of measurements on in case the dreaded imperial/millimeter error gets in.Also scale is 1:1 in all drawings.Yes it has caused us a lot of trouble, especially when there are a few doing the same work.
Another route to take if she is a replica is to make up dummy engines..Here is a 3D model of a Db601 done by my good mate Dave from Shuttleworth.I hope he doesn,t mind and will remove it if he does..
These models can be exported into a CNC Mill and instead of using Aluminium, use high density foam and cover in resin, paint and then fit with all the ancilleries. You would only need one made to use as a pattern or have one shown with open cowlings.Yes alli airframe would be the go 🙂
In life, nothing happens until “something” happens.
Update on WIX…Not looking pretty 🙁

There are still a few floating around in Gippsland, but again, attached to machinery.
Must be popular…Spitty ones on haycarts up here..
The ‘6’ on the Bleriot tail – does that indicate CFS6 that served at CFS Point Cook 1914-1917?
Not sure but will ask.Does sound plausible though.Bleriot was built my Peter White our assistant curator, who has already started his next project..
