It,s a world wide love affair
Thanks QLD, remember me if you ever do win the lottery. I have enjoyed collecting Spit items and have met some great people in the process. The good thing is I can still marvel at what other people have achieved, can still pop up to Duxford and real Spits flying AND save a lot of money in the process!!
Exactly right and for someone who has collected stuff like yourself you can talk the talk and walk the walk.It is very much our special little club.:diablo:
Only the insane ones need apply.Best of luck mate with whatever you achieve.:D
Wow now there are some fantastic photos mate..Cheers…
Fantastic that the two seat conversion hasn,t altered the lines of the aircraft at all.
Looks like Matt at the controls in thet piccy of the Boomerang taxiing
Yep it,s Matt… 😀
Gavin, I’m letting my Spit project go if you are interested. I have a full set of NS4 Grade frames, original radio, spade grip, seat, control column, instrument panel with fittings, undercarriage with wheels etc. etc. Let me know if you might be interested. I might consider a part exchange of your girlfriend if it helps
Sorry to hear that your letting it go.Pity I have no cash at the moment,no I didn,t win lotto this week…Sounds like you have a nice collection of stuff.Good luck with things.Never know how things turn out..
Why is The Spitfire so beautiful?
“Curves”…also what makes it a b@st@rd to build…
Prices
With a full repaint, 17k is about the going rate for a refurb.
Baz
Probably a lot less hassle and money than building your own.:diablo:
Amazing effort mate. Thanks for sharing and good luck in getting through all the work.
I may be wrong here, but I believe it may be Treason to refer to Spitfire parts in “mm”
Being one of the colonies we frequently cross dress..
top portion of FR5 looks to be sloping fwds
The firewalls are just two sheets of .022″ ally with a 3mm asbestos core along with a few stiffeners. With a bit of pulling and pushing can be bent forward to remove the top fuel tank if in a hurry.
Sidearms were popular here in the pacific theatre, especially here in Australia where the most dangerous opponents were the wildlife.
The fragmentation looks very similar to a 20mm HE round hit.Should there be an entry hole on the other side of the fuse?
There are a lot of products around that will do the job, just hop off to the local hardware supplier as they should have something that will do the job.Did they have them originally?
Good hunting….
Nice find..Congrats.
Ahhh trick question then…..Has to be the wrong shade of sky used on the undersurface.
Spitfires had half a stick of TNT on the IFF radio set to demolish it upon crash landing. If you look in the cockpit you can see a cover with “WARNING” on it.That is the cover for the buttons.
