And use the forward fuselage of Halifax PN323 as landfill?

New year, new plans. But does anyone know what the IWM’s plans are for the Halifax forward fuselage section PN323, it has been in a gutted state at Duxford for several years. Hardly a fitting tribute to one of HP’s finest.

Just beautiful, let’s hope a twenties series Spit (or Seafire 46) will grace European skies again before too long. How about it Kennet, TFC?

Is that the same museum the Mk V Spitfire ended up in several years ago? Substantial wing etc.

And perhaps the rear fuselage on display at the Midland Air Museum as well? Would be a logical thing too.:D
Keep up the good work and don’t forget to post some progress in your Whitely thread.

And why re-inventing the wheel. The Halifax has Hampden parts (control column and full rudder pedal assembly) and the Westland Whirlwind fighter has Lysander rudder pedals.

I agree and the best thing would be to build a static one first to find out how it all fits etc. Using the same tooling an airworthy airframe might be constructed.

    Very Nice Tony,
And Robert, your project is very impressive.
I have recently started collecting bits etc. for a Dutch Spitfire IX instrument panel. Haven’t made up my mind yet but this just might grow into a
    quarter cockpit.
Keeps us posted with updates please.

I thought the Museum of Berkshire Aviation was the one planning a Master during the eighties but then went for a Martinet instead.

EN224 would be nice too, but probably several years until completion?

    Hi James,
Very interesting project. I got my pilot control box years ago still in it’s original box. The long pointed switch was missing but I suppose that was an optional part to fit. Will you add the red strip accross it too? I thought this is standard on beam approach equipment.
