I have a pic somewhere of a kid pedalling around the Corsair gathering a few years ago in a P-40 pedal plane….rather cute, really…
I always thought an ‘Affordable Warbird’ was an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp or military intelligence….or ‘knowledgeable Key publishing forum member’…

Same here, not many folks in the theater….it did its best business over the holidays and I suspect it’ll do well at the Oscars, which’ll lead to more business again once folks get curious about it again after the Oscars…

Bill Greenwood say anything to you about being that close to his Spit? Obviously the ‘Oshkosh’ batch of photos…Nice stuff…I’ll see what I got…

Well….you can’t argue with the end result…Darrell and his boys (Stan Hime, Larry Will and Lyn Phillips) did and CONTINUE to do a great job on restoring these old birds, they are currently working on an A6M3 Zero for the Evergreen museum which when it is finished will be a beaut. And yes….it is a tragedy (literally) that the Messer that was supposed to fly for Evergreen never will…but it WILL continue to look as good as it does in Dennis’s pics for those who venture to see it, as I hope to some day.

It’s quite simple….sometimes some of the best trips take place in cold weather when you expect things to be miserable and you wish you were back home in the comfort of your living room with your feet up in front of a fire, but then you find a whole new world opens up to you up there in the brisk air a mile so above mother earth…the photos come back from the developers and they look spectacular (for those of us not using digital) and the trip takes on a whole new light later on…you realize that despite all, you had a great time and you now have a great way to remember it and, as you have done here, share it with others who appreciate it too.

Some SPECTACULAR pet photos in here kids, LOVE the one with the cat’s face right up in the camera….great stuff….here’s my contribution, The Mooch, a very smart cat who actually uses the toilet (loo) once in a while on his own….in these scenes guarding my 1/18 scale Corsair and lounging on the sofa looking out the window…

I remember Final Countdown and I liked it….interesting plot, good flying, and I love ‘what if’ movies like that.
I was also not aware that we had that many carriers at that point in the war and I arrive at the same conclusion…we would’ve made it through on what we had until more arrived, we would have just planned differently…don’t know if, however, after being attacked by the Japs ANY carrier that was caught at Pearl would have been rebuilt, since they would have made it the CENTER of their attack…
Still slightly amazed that our other carriers were as close as they were and were’nt discovered by Jap forces…maybe just a little luck on our part, like at Midway?

Hmmmm….we might have survived after all….
The Mile High wing of the CAF’s Lockheed Lodestar (C-60) crashed recently, don’t know if they plan on rebuilding (guessing not)…maybe the wings off of it would work…
The cold and lack of hockey is affecting your brain, James….should’nt you move to warmer climes….like Bora Bora?
The latest issue of Air Classics (with the Hawk 75 on the cover) says it will be on its way to the UK and probably more specifically Duxford for a home with TFC in the spring of 2005….would Mike O’Leary lie?
Not sure…never knew which was which and only learned later that only one would work. I THINK the photo above is of the working one…
Hmmm….I have a reproduction of a booklet on how to fly the Corsair fighter that was done for British pilots….wonder how well that would sell?
Okay, well, if that’s the case, good to know the bird and the man still exist! Nice site Steve Rister has there, known him since our ‘Breckenridge days’ and he does great video work, flew a P-40 photo flight with him once where we both got some great stuff…

Let’s try attaching that shot again….took too long last time…
