Love that RN Rafale pic. Got it as my new background!!!
We need to grow up a little and get over the British/French rivalry.
Face it, its better when we work together. I bellieve that we should co-develop the A330 tanker, as it will provide us with a common platform, halve the cost of each developing a new tanker, and would give both Britain and France what they require.
Whether the UK should buy Rafales should not be affected by international rivalry. The F35C would be the best choice for the RN, with a full tech transfer. Failing this, by far the next best option would be the Rafale. Case closed.
Nope, in sixth form in Hinckley, about ten miles from Leicester, no plans for Uni though, probably RAF after my A levels. Had another extravagance the other day, really shouldn’t have as i’m pretty skint – box set of Series 1 and 2 of ‘The Mighty Boosh’ on dvd, hopefully they’ll have arrived by the time I get home, fingers crossed!
nice purchase. The mighty boosh were live in leicester a few weeks ago, and very good by all accounts.

Not that i know of, but then again its most likely a distant relation, as apparently there are only 277 Britchfords in the UK (according to http://www.yournotme.com). If you give me some details I could ask the family, might turn up some interesting answers!!
I did have a relative who was a tech in the RAF on spitfires and possibly vulcans as well, but we didn’t share the same name.
Perhaps not, but I can’t think of any other aircraft made of wood with a 2 seat configuration like this.
Wow, very impressive.
I think this is an exert from a 1980s BBC series ‘reaching for the skies’, which i am lucky enough to have an episode or two of on tape. Does anyone know where i could buy this TV series on video or DVD, as it was a very enjoyable and informative documentary series i would love to add to my collection.
Darn it, i wish i had spotted this thread!!!!!!
I only live a few miles from the field!!!! Ah well, maybe next time.
sorry, I couldn’t resist!!!
But on a more helpful note, it looks to me that whatever aircraft it is has a twin seat configuration, , and looks a like a biplane, being made from wood (so its a classic). At a wild guess, a tiger/gypsy moth?
I would say that around 120 Rafales would be a good number:
Enough for 4 squardons of 12 aircraft per carrier, (allowing for, rotation so 2 or 3 squadrons can be embarked at any one time). It would also give spare aircraft for attrition and for training.
A fuselage? 😀 😀
I guess £90 on a nice coat was my worst. Unless you count the £120 or so i spent on the complete Babylon 5 DVD collection?
And RLangham, you wouldn’t be a student of Leiceter univsersity would you?

I wish i could offer some better advice, but all i can say is that my prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Best wishes.
