I’m only 20, and i often feel that many people, of a wide range of ages, are somewhat lacking in general knowledge such as this, but also in more important fields such as manners, public etiquette and the like.
I’ll leave it there before i go full steam into rant mode, but I will say Mr.Creosote, that this is surprising.

We are fast today aren’t we!
I have taken a strong dislike to the logo, and voted ‘wooden spoon’ along with 83% of others on this site:

I trust we will all do the same, let good sense prevail!!!

In that case its probably just an idea being thrown around at the defense ministry.
I thought Koreans had their own attack helo program?
I don’t see a problem with BAe acquiring more foreign companies. It doesn’t take anything away from the company, in fact it adds expertise and the ammount of products it can offer. It will be interesting to see if future Bradley/Warrior replacements and those for other products will see a joint US/UK purchase of the same product? This is also a good thing, as it lowers the costs for everyone and helps commonality in the field.
The CVFs should clearly be made as CTOL, and the RN should get some decent hawkeyes. CTOL gives much better performance for aircraft it can support, however, would i be right in saying it is less safe?
The current projects will supply decent hardware, but in too few numbers. Blame whatever you want, but successive UK governments have refused to invest properly, because they care more about party politics and refuse to realise the threats. The RN should have the capability to project UK power to all points on the globe.
You know, I’m seeing the appeal of Distiller’s Euro-Wermacht idea, I think the name would have to be edited slightly! 😀
All nations paying a fixed percentage of their GDP, equipped with the same equipment (eventually), with production facilities spread out across the continent according to which nation pays most.
It would allow for a large, robust force that could incorporate all kinds of specialist formations, no compromise would need to be made between traditional armored formations and newer rapid reaction and light infantry forces, both could be fielded in overwhelming numbers. The combined military of the EU (apart from the navy, where power projection assets are comparatively lacking), would be a true superpower, larger in many fields than the US military.
It’ll never happen though. 😉
btw, car prices are also cheaper in US.
For example, Ford Focus starting price US; $14,000 UK; $22,709

Living in the UK, we pay around $7.10 for equivalent of a US gallon.
People all over Europe are paying comparable prices, perhaps US citizens should realize how good they have it compared to everyone else.
You still get fuel cheaper than almost anyone else, and you complain it will kill the economy if it goes up to a price still much lower than EU levels. The prices here are very high, but manageable, and people in the US will adapt to cope.
I realize it must be hitting you in the wallet, and i sympathize, we all know what that feels like. I know that the US is designed around cars more than EU states, and that it is in many places less practical to live without a car.
But all the complaining about how bad you have it does you no credit when we across the pond look at how much we pay compared to you guys, you are still better off than us.

That is because you are an arrogant American Supremacist who knows less than half what he thinks he knows. Just give up will you?
Steady on old chap, he’s entitled to an opinion.
But by the same logic, Distiller, the US doesn’t need the Raptor. It is overkill when compared to anything Russia or China can currently build, a new build F-15 with Aesa, new AMRAAMS, a HMS, aim-9x etc would be more than capable to rule the skies.
