We could save a whole lot of money by adopting a high-risk stragegy, we move civillians and NATO forces from an area, then nuke it. Bye bye Taliban.

The RAF decided to upgrade some of its Chinook HC.2 to a HC.3 configuration for special forces use. The new HC.3 would be similar to the MH-47 in many aspects, but the MoD decided that they wanted to customise it with all kinds of new avionics and such.

Basically intergrating all this stuff was a shambles and the things just didn’t work at all, and if i remember some started suffering from fatige.

Last I heard they had been put in storage.

Does anyone have figures or any infromation about the Soviet space shuttle? Was it cheaper to run, etc?

I agree with the shuttle idea wholeheartedly, the principle was good.

But what we really need now more than anything is a cheap, safe and fast way to move heavy loads into orbit. Once we get that right, all other things can follow. If we can do this then assembling a new generation of craft designed to fly only in space can be designed, allowing for the exploration of nearby planets much more easily than current plans.

Then again, Meteor is going to be offered on all three of the Euro canards, so orders may be quite large without US involvement?

I remember seeing an aircraft similar to this, and there was speculation that it may be related to the Aurora. The article was in Aircraft Illustrated I believe.

Fingers crosseed then, but again I am not hopeful. Today’s public has no ambition when it comes to space exploration, they focus too much on the costs and not on its benefits, which is an incredible shame.

If I had my way, NASA would never have stopped the Apollo program, and would have had its budgets increased so that it could fund the space station and other activities all at the same time. Ah well…

About damn time as well. Whomever came up with that plan obviously never heard of the lessons learnt by F-4 pilots over vietnam.
