    Possible, who knows.:)

Probable, if a bird went through that hole in the inlet cowl then it is sure to have hit the oil tank – which is on that side. It’s got that nice golden colour to it. 😀

    What do you mean?
Regarding the fact that there are some dents and things missing on the plane right now, and the black trails are from the engine fire, including the orange fire fluid. If all those things weren’t there it would be just one of the 737 flying today……

It looks more like the No.1 has dumped all its engine oil. 😮

Yup, I understand the way mobile phones and power work and yes, they output as much power as they need to… But the plane still flies perfectly safely through much higher power microwave transmissions than a phone will ever radiate. Once I hear a technical explanation as to why that’s different I’ll happily agree with your point. Please feel free to provide that technical explanation.

P.S. A 3310 interferes with a tv so much because it operates on roughly the same UHF carrier frequencies as analogue TV broadcasts. Thank you for proving why my skepticism is valid.

Due to the fact that the fuselage acts as a faraday cage, in a similar fashion when it encounters a lightning strike. Most wiring on an aircraft is shielded in some manner.

The main issue is being able to tell which mobile phones causes interference and which don’t, along with the certifying issues. I don’t know the ins and outs of it, but I believe systems which create a local receiver in the fuselage reduce the energy output from the phones to a very small insignificant issue.

Slightly different note, I caught a “manager” chatting quite freely on the phone, meters away from an open wing tank that was being vented. 😮

Best just switching them off or putting them into flight mode. It only takes seconds to do. 🙂

Like the FARs turned out to say, Vmcg must be established with “maximum available takeoff power on the operating engines”. So in case of paper derate, either Vmcg is unchanged or else the full thrust is made unavailable even in emergency.

It is more than a paper-derate of the engine. On modern engines the FADEC is limiting the engine to a lower output, so even if the pilot wanted more they will not get any more than that allowed by the FADEC, even if the component of the engine allow more.

Taking Harry the dog for a drive in the car in his racing harness. A dog that loves speed.:D

It’s not really got a choice in the matter when you strap him to the car. 😀

As mentioned by Arthur, the brakes and tires get hot from taxiing. But afterrotation the brakes are also used to stop the tires from spinning in their wheelwells.

Either that or someone forgot the gear-pins. :diablo:

Certainly. Turbulence in the middle of an ocean reminds me of AF447.
I know the A330 completes many thousands of trouble-free flights, but until we know what brought AF447 down – if, indeed, we ever do – it will always be in the back of my mind, just a bit.
As I said, feel free to tell me I am a fool.

Its your money, you can choose any flight/aircraft you like. Luckily there are plenty B777/B747/B767 flying over the atlantic every day. 🙂

Excellent! Should be interesting aircraft to see in those pretty schemes.

I take it the MD-90’s will be going to Delta? The B717 will be a much better size for Blue 1.
