LOL…a turboproped Growler 😀
I know the Raptor is built for BVR, but watching the above picture makes me wonder about it`s stealthiness in a dogfight. I mean you can see those contrails with no problems.
Very nice picture, tho`
Seems that Iraqs Mi.17s are undergoing an upgrade. This machine was photographed in Poland, and since Armour plating can be fitted locally within Iraq, it would be pretty exspensive to have the choppers shipped to Poland for the work.
Unless that is, they are are recieving upgraded defensive systems aswell?. Does anyone know the extent of the upgrade, and what the hell the orange pitot tube like thing is on the nose?
I`m not that sure that is a new helicopter. I think it`s an ex polish Mi-17. Looks kinda old.
Any Azerbaijani Mi-8 Hip-E images?
A few meters away from me is the Azerbaijani presidential Airbus. Unfortunately I cannot take or post pictures of it, because the security services will ride my behind.
Near it are the Canadian A310, Bulgarian and Slovak Tu-154, Royal Australian B736 and many more.
What is the bump on the port side of the engine inlet? It looks like a hoist??
That`s a hoist all right.
That`s one ugly mofo. The one thing that I`m sure is that`s a Mi-17. The unsure part is that perhaps it`s a LL version for testing radars? Perhaps testing for the Mi-14 radar?
It’s interesting the comment made by the pilot supposedly admitting to ‘falling asleep’ whilst flying it to Singapore. Hmmm. And if it was intercepted by another air force en-route..?
That`s Anatoly Kvotchur.
That may be a Romanian Alouette. I`ll make some questions arround here to see what I find out.
I wish you the best of upcomming New Year 2008. :diablo:
Sudanese FT-6 and Mi-2 Hoplite on maintenance.
I think that`s a Mi-1, not a Mi-2. It`s not fan enough for a Mi-2.
Is this really a problem?
We’re talking about a $50,000 repair on a $350,000,000 airplane.
That is equivilent to having to spending for $5 for a part to repair a $35,000 automobile.
Yeah, but 5 bucks is 5 bucks, while 50,000 bucks is 50,000 bucks…no matter with what you`re trying to compare to.
Gripen Demo – Trail-blazing the future
GE Aviation and Volvo Aero Corporation will be working collaboratively on the new F414G fighter engine for the Gripen Demonstrator programme.
The F414G engine selected by Saab uses a similar architecture to the popular F414-GE-400 engine powering the F/A-18 Super Hornet, with minor changes to the alternator (for added aircraft power) and modified Full Authority Digital Electronic Control software for enhances single-engine operation. The F414 engine is capable of producing more than 22,000 pounds (96 kN) of thrust.
Thanks, Jai. I was thinking at the EJ200.
The Gripen Demo will have a new engine, radar, avionics, strengthened airframe, more fuel and expanded weapons capability.
What new engine?
Pardon, it is presented as offset for the F-16 procurement.
I was just curios…why do they have to be compensated? WW2? Comunism? What? Why? And what is the conection between Opel and LM ?
Hm, it took some time to evacuate the chopper.
But as a surprise to me, it is declared to be a compensation.
Compensastion to what ?
