Some of these panels show signs of two different sized U/C inds fitted, I think large type initially, sometimes you see an adaptor plate fitted to allow for this.

I would say those illustrations definitely show curved bottom for T.7 and straight for F.8, but again maybe a mod was introduced across the range, or the panels are so interchangeable that you see both types in both marks of Meteor in preservation.

That said the MAM F8 and Mk7 pilot’s notes both show a flat bottom edge. My only book reference is the Modeller’s Datafile, would you have a supporting piccy at all. Sorry to be cheeky!

I don’t at the moment Ian, I kind of remember from when I had a T.7 (rear) panel that I looked into a bit, and finding out that front panel was almost identical to F.8 apart from the bottom edge, a quick Google seems to back this up, however there do seem to be exceptions aswel.
If you’ve seen the pilot notes they are the best original source, are the MAM ones on line?

PS I’ve just looked at my pics of the Kemble Meteor 7 and that has the straight edge – so maybe it was change across the types?

F.8 and T.7 front panels look very similar, but I think the curved bottom edge could make this T.7.

Just to be really boring, i have it on good authority that the nose legs on aw argosies are the same?

Nose legs aren’t the same, Shackleton Mk.3s sit way off the ground the Argosy is as low to the ground as you can get!
Do you mean the nose wheels?

Argosys’ wings were based on Shack 3 wings.

I’m thinking Buccaneer here… I note we didn’t lose any of them, nor does the list in TEEJ’s post say any were damaged.

Weren’t they used as a designater in GW.1 though? The mission profile would be different.
