He does not possess a bitter, twisted, warped or agumentative bone in his slightly corpulent, occasionally flatulent frame.

I’m sure we all recognise the standard Forum contributor from this description.

Umm, Arthur Pewtey, no err, erm, Kev35!

We are advised that as long as you are logged in, you wont see them anymore. Guests will see them as before.

That is exactly what went through my mind when I first saw the ads, it was like looking at a forum without being signed in, I had wondered if the settings were wrong.
Thanks Bruce for your taking up the issue and coming out with an answer.

    Here is the fix lads
Go to Tools >> Internet Options >> Security tab >> Custom Level

Scroll down until you reached ‘Scripting’ >> ‘Active Scripting’ >> Click Disable

    Hope this helps

Thanks Peter, that was the sort of response I was hoping for.:)

Edit, I assume the ads require Java, as I get the good old fashioned unfeterred forum on the MoD steam driven device?

Kev you can say what you like, my original question was not a rant, my retort to a pi5s poor response from a mod, maybe.

Well my pages slowed up, so I could have expected that for a start.
And let’s not get silly Moggy, I haven’t asked for an anouncement for every fart or action, nor have I said that they need to explain their actions (Kev), I was just asking a question or two, and slightly surprised at a moderators response really – as Muttley says perhaps a little naively.

    What an odd expectation

Ah, I see, so members come fairly low in priorities then.
Just thought a forum announcement, as happens elsewhere, might have surficed.
Also completely agree with Blue about the ad content.
If needs must then I can entirely get that advertising like this is warranted, but I haven’t seen that explained by anyone yet.

mm right, but we didn’t have them until today, and they are tacky.
Surely if Key Publishing has kept a forum going for 11+ years on the sponsoring and ads they did have there isn’t a need to resort to the latest ad style?
Also one would have expected an announcement to changes in the forum layout?
