you didn’t see bennidorm ?? utterley hillarious melvyn hayes turning up as mr pink the gangster in the last series was hillarious !!

That really does show how comedy is different strokes for different folks, I really liked Benidorm right up until that point which seemd painfully drawn out and awkward! I feel it has run its course with that ast series.

One Foot In The Grave is another fine comedy that I didn’t appreciate at the time and one that gets funnier everytime you watch it, some of it is very subtle, some of it quite brutal.

Well you raise another interesting point really, what do we learn from them? Agreed, very little I suppose, apart from maybe experiencing what it may have been like to witness them flying.
However museum and flying exhibits are surely not just something to learn from, but to many are entertainment, variety, and experiences to behold in their own right, vulgar words in the world of artefacts possibly!:o

The new build 262’s differ quite significantly from the original, primarily in systems fit, but also in construction technique. It was described to me as ‘the right shape in the sky’ by someone who worked there…. In my opinion, they have no historical value whatever.

Hmm, that bit is debateable. I guess maybe no historical relevance, but they have huge value in showing people just what these aircraft look like flying and to feel the ‘presence’ of the real thing, something that isn’t achievable otherwise.
My understanding is that externally they are 99% right and that is what matters to most people looking at these things.

I didn’t realise that a lot of museum static aircraft were even complete internally until recent times, so I guess as exhibits for the public it could be argued that if they are complete or not it dosen’t really matter, but from a historic artefact point of view it does.

Dads Army is merely looked on as comfort comedy, something we grew up with from a simpler time, as good as it was there are still modern ones that are as good if not better.

It is just good to watch something from a simpler more comfortable time when we watched with relatives we have lost along the way !!

That dosen’t explain why some of us that don’t remember it the first time around love it though!

I love many sitcoms and comedys, Blackadder, Fawlty, Reggie Perrin, Rising Damp, Porridge, Father Ted, The Thick Of It, Phoenix Nights etc etc, but none of these can hold a light against Dads Army, even though to me some are funnier.
Besides the actual quality scripts of DA is the huge production value that very few TV comedys have come close to, aswel as the sheer quality of most of its cast (ie not just the main/lead one or two).
Also absolutely anyone can watch it from infant to old adult and all of them can get someting from watching it, it simply dosen’t offend at any level, but then neither is it in anyway dumbing down or pandering to an audience.

I wish Nintendo would ressurect ‘Pilot Wings’ from N64 to work with Wii, brilliant flying game!

I’m not into consoles and computor games at all, loose interest in even the latest kit very quickly, however the Wii is just great fun, and fun that you can have by yourself or the rest of the family.
Even the mother in law takes part and somehow keeps beating us at bowling!
Wii Fit Resort and Brain Academy are my faves!
Apart from the remotes, the Wii ballance board I would say is a must to get full value out of the whole package (and you do feel the burn if you’re anything like me!), as mentioned the other gadgets are a waste of time.
