I thought the Shackleton was giffted to the IWM by the RAF when they delivered to Duxford in 1972?
It seems to me that that time has come when serious consideration to the future and management of our airliner and civil aircraft collections needs to be undertaken.
Not an easy task I would imagine, but one that needs to be faced none the less. The simplist solution would seem to be a new dedicated hangar at Dux, but these things are never simple in reality!

I caught this accidently, brilliant interview, what a down to earth and unassuming chap Tony Pickering is, I can’t think of a better person to convey to a modern audience just what ‘the few’ had to go through.
Shame about the ejection bit (especially the Bader gaff!), I didn’t hear the responses so unsure if he was corrected!
JV, like the Daily Mail, seems to be a strong supporter of aviation matters which given there mass appeal can only be a good thing, but they are very different other than that.

You know why, it’s because you’ve got bits of Vulcan there!

Hereby advised Cardiff 16.39, St Athan 16.40 L, then routing to Halton via Ross-on-Wye.

RIP. The numbers of bomber aircrew surviving now must be very few.

The only time I know of is St Athan 16.20 ish, I’m assuming Cardiff is on the list as they are controlling the aircraft in the area as Saints ATC is closed on w.ends.
Filton of course was important to Vulcan engine flight testing and was a QRA dispersal site.
I don’t really want to knock this gesture to much, it maybe sponsor led, or something else behind it, but this is really what the Vulcan should be doing every now and then, providing a free spectacle (remebering the HLF grant) for those around the country that can’t get to airshows etc.
Maybe the V Bomber bases will get their turn in time? In fact a tour of the V Bomber stations and the QRA dispersed sites would be fantastic, taking in St Mawgan and Machrihanish.
