I was standing at the end of Runway 29 as these assembled and took off – when I remember how to get my video clip loaded I will post on YouTube. In the meantime here’s a few stills that I took as they gathered – unfortunately using a well-old 4-meg compact that I rescued from the back of a cupboard, hence apologies for the cr*p quality.
Edit: vid now available at the site indicated below.
Very nice shots, Anna – but, having surveyed the participation list, I’m glad I chose not to go.
Waco YKS-7 cabin biplane G-BWAC doing circuits and landings at Panshanger @ 17.00hrs today – the aircraft below, pictured at Panshanger last year.
If you live local and have a spare couple of hours on Friday 1st.June, a formation of 10 Chippies and a Hornet Moth will be taking off and assembling at 13.55hrs for a pass over the University of Hertfordshire campus in Hatfield (the Uni was formerly known as De Havilland College and had strong links with the now extinct local aircraft industry).
Actually, there is an aviation connection – in six containers aboard one of those vessels are the remains of THAT four-engined bomber from China. They are being transferred onto another ship, heading towards Venezuela where they will reassembled in a ten week rebuild to flying condition.
I’ve sent a money order for $10,000 to Fernandez in Puerto Rico – he’s arranged every step of this transaction, and assures me that something will be flying before the end of the year.
