Congratulations, beautiful pictures, the place in which the base is located is beautiful.
I think all four nations are operational in the Typhoon. The RAF is starting with 17 sqn and they have started to operate from Coningsby which will be the conversion center for frontline pilots. Spain is in the same process with Ala 11 and Italy recently started with 4th Stormo

But they are upgrading the Mirage Elkan (Mirage V). They have included refuelling probe, new weapons systems etc…, and, now replace them for more F-16s? i don´t believe in that option.
I heard that as well, but one 707 is not enough, they need at least one more.
Regards,
But this must be considered otherwise the F16s will be a “white elephant” as Chile is a large country and the need to refuel the F16s in the air is obvious.
Does anyone knows if Chile will purchase tankers to provide refuelling for the F-16 fleet? Currently they operate a different AAR system.
Regards,
The big sales of the F-16 in the late 70´s and beginning of 80´s was a good factor for the failure to sell the F-20. I remember, early in the 80´s the jet was offered to Brazil
One time, Gen. Chuck Yeager said that the F-20 was the best fighter he has ever flown, unfortunately, didn´t make it, the prototype crashed in South Korea and ……..history tells.
Regards,
US government authorized the sale of the Amramm to Chile (preferred weapon for its F-16s) and did the same for Brazil if the F-16 will be the option.
In fact, Chile has a very good AF, small one, but with very good equipment, at least on the paper, i don´t know if the fighter are well maintained, if they can generate enough sorties to keep their pilots skills, how many hours they fly to train. And for a small force, it is crucial to have almost the entire fleet available in case of any trouble.
F-5 – 14 aircraft
Mirage Pantera – 14 aircraft
Mirage Elkan – 25 aircraft (total brought from Belgium)
F-16 – 12 ordered
I don´t think Fach will take the lead in Latin America, i consider Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Peru.
Regards,
Not bad, almost 100 years of operation for the B-52. Amazing!!!
Phantom II,
They don´t have the Super Tucano, they have basically the same model, but, with differente engine and avionics, but, this version (more powerful than Brazilian version, EMB-312/T-27) cannot be considered the Super Tucano.
Regards,
Ja Worsley, just a quick correction. In the photo that you mentioned a RSAF example, in fact is a Brazilian F-5E.

Hi Adelphi,
ok, nice pictures that you took at Santa Cruz, and, definitely i would like to have a high res pic of the specially painted F-5 to put as wallpaper in my computer.
Tks and abraço,
A-29
Another flight of F5s, old camouflage, Vietnam style.
It´s tough to say which pic is the best, but, i have to agree that the patrouille Suisse pics is just awesome.
