Sooo . . . too busy for KC-390, but not too busy for MTA.

They would have to dump the russians first. They wouldn´t do this. They were already comitted with it.

I think Embraer would have loved to get HAL as a major partner, if it meant a big sale to India.

I´m sorry but HAL is incompetent and we see this every day. HAL participation as a major partner would only disrupt the schedule. HAL would represent a headache to Embraer. It wasn´t worth.

Would Embraer assume the risks of a HAL made KC-390 just like the indians are demanding from Dassault?

    I don´t think so.

Ok. Fighters are an excelent subject but what I want to know is when Russia will start to replace An-26/30 in service. An-2 is irreplaceable. When Russia will place ordes for the Mi-38 and Ka-60?

India could have joined the KC-390 programme as a major partner. Instead, it’s tied itself to a project which is proceeding at a snail’s pace, as a junior partner.

Since the main customer is supposed to be the Russian air force, I expect their requirements to have priority over those of the IAF.

HAL participation in the KC-390 programme would only delay the project. HAL is very busy with other projects. It couldn´t handle another one and my guess is Embraer wouldn´t accept HAL as a major partner.

Exactly, why waste time and money developing an aircraft that already has an alternative on the market?

Because unlike the KC-390, India is co-developing the MTA with Russia which means more high skilled jobs for India and MTA will bem developed to meet IAF requirements.
    A totally understandable decision.

What does he mean by not satisfactory – and who were the participants in the tender?

Lockheed abandoned the tender. Only EADSS CASA C295 was left and this aircraft is know to be underpowered not suitable for hot and high conditions of India.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper and quicker to buy the KC-390?

Why shoud they do this if they are developing an aircraft of the same category?

Makes no sense. It would be a waste of money and terrible for logisitic.

That will take a long time to replace those AN-32s in that case…

Weren´t they upgraded a few years ago in Ukraine?

    The An-70 lives! It lives!!!

    http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/ukraine-gives-approval-for-an-70-production-start-408413/

Any right-minded aviation buff has to be happy about that no?

But what will happen with those 70% of russian made parts??

Will Ukraine be able to replace it?

    I doubt.

The Ah-64 is combat proven in the anti-tank role.

Russia should´ve choose to develop the Il-112 instead buying the An-140 from Ukraine.
Russia should´ve left the An-70 program very early, refurbished old Il-76 airframes and developed the Tu-330 instead of Il-476.
Russia should´ve bought the Mi-38 and Ka-60 for the military even if in small numbers.
Russia shouldn’t have killed the Sukhoi S-80 transport aircraft. It should´ve replaced An-24/26 and 28 in the military. The lack os state orders killed the program.

Brazil shouldn´t have bought the basic version of the EC-725 Caracal for more than 50 million dollar each even with alleged tech transfer.

Can’t keep waiting for stealth fighter, India tells Russia

I don´t think it´s wise to pressure Russia to deliver PAK-FA ahead schedule unless India wants a monkey model.

The cockpit of the Gripen NG version to Brazil will be diferent from the one developed for Sweden. It´ll have a wide area display(WAD) that will be developed by AEL. This modifications in one of the reasons why the value of the contract went up. FAB also asked for several other modifications. FAB is willing to afford such modifications.

Looks like Airbus has bitten the bullet and is going with Tata group to manufacture C295 for Avro replacement.
    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Airbus-may-partner-Tatas-for-manufacturing-defence-transport-aircraft/articleshow/44935927.cms

Accordind to brazilians sources, the C-295 is underpowered and doens´t operate well in hot conditions. C-27J would be a better option.
