Looks pretty genuine.
I took plenty of shots of her at the show, and on departures. Will try and dig them out tonight.
I wish they’d put the Lightning inside instead of a mock-up Spitfire
Or indeed the ever-deteriorating Meteor. Seems crazy to have a mock-up of a common aircraft like the Spit inside (along with another replica (?) under construction) and have types like the Lightning, Meteor and Javelin rotting away.
Good museum though. For a privately-owned, free-admission collection its certainly a good day out. Three or four hours of an afternoon is well spent at Flixton.
I don’t, myself, believe a thread should be pulled because it ‘might’ offend someone. If it does offend and they make it known to me that’s a different matter.
Precisely. The reason why some forums are more interesting and engaging is that opinions and debate are welcomed. The result being that such forums end up being self-policing. If someone’s offended by a post, put your point of view and argue back, don’t start moaning and asking for threads to be locked simply because you don’t agree with them! 😉
I remember seeing one display at Halfpenny Green in the early 80s – any idea which machine this would have been? One of the Cosford “hangar queens” referred to above?
Hadn’t noticed that. “Friday afternoon” job in the paintshop?
Yes, the number of squabbles here is quite remarkable. The moment there’s an accident or even minor incident you get the speculators spouting rubbish, and then others start the “don’t speculate because you weren’t there” line… All rather tiresome.
Presumably deleted as it decended into another squabble.
Thought it was a good routine. The opposition passes were excellent.
Very nice pictures!
That GeeBee replica would be nice if its still around.
Excellent photos. What a lovely setting for a show. Any shots of the Venom?
the bbmf spitfire pr XIX which flew into southend is the aircraft inquestion this aircraft has got major problems with her griffon
That happened at the end of May, this “sick Spit” was spotted more recently. I heard the Southend casualty wouldn’t be flying until next season.
The BBMF are having a lousy time of it at the moment. Let’s hope if they do have a sickly Spit, it gets better soon!
As promised…
