“Or Harpoons… or how about flying over the top and dropping 2000lb LGB’s onto the enemy ships!”
Good point, GZYL. My thoughts excactly.
Also use F-14’s and Mig-31’s firing hundreds of Aim 54 Phoenix’s and AA-9’s.
Or TU-22’s firing AS-6’s with thier mega warheads….
Mind u, the enmy ships did have “force fields”…..
“The bad one. scenes which have been created using computers. crap like Independence day, etc..”
And how else do you expect to get scores of F/A-18’s into the air! They have to be CGI. Even if a film had a $400 MILL budget, to get that many Hornets into the air for real would use most of the cash. Regarding ID4, the producers were going to use F-22’s. However, they chose Hornets as they thought it was the better looking plane.
Don’t know why the Hornets would not have used Mavericks instead of AMRAAM’s given the bigger warhead size…
New Zealand…where the men are men and the sheep are warriors!
The Mel Gibson movie, “We Were Soldiers” Has some nice scenes involving UH-1’s, and A-1 Skyraiders attacking the ‘cong.
Also a tridky bird to land on a carrier due to hi approach speed and narrow track undercarriage. Mind you, it set the trend for fightter design for the next 25 years…
Sorry, King Jester beat me to it….
Saw 10 mins of a movie last nite, can’t remember name, perhaps just as well. Starred Rutger Haur and Robert “Terminator 2” Patrick. In one silly scene, Rober Patrick and Rutger Haur’s F-16’s are intercepting an airliner over the Iraqi no flight zone. The both signal the airliner to land. Rutger Haur’s F-16 then flies in front of the airliner on FULL BURNER!!! Naturally the airliner pilot is spookes and his plane almost stalls….just daft.
O’ and you forgot the Iron Eagle series. Very poor.
And wot about the effects of any possible pollution?? I’m sure an aircraft carrier contains some potentially hazzerdous substances. I hope those oil tanks are empty as well.
It reminds me of a newspaper article a few years ago which suggested a potential ecological disaster due to the amount of fuel oil just waiting to blob to the surface from the rusting tanks numbers of ships sunk in the Atlantic and Pacific during WWII. Just a thought….
“i would perish the thought of them ending up as amraam meat over some test range!”
Just right to be blown apart by an F/A-18F, F-22 or F-35!!!
Now c’mon you guys…don’t that F/A-18F look good? (head between knees, waitin’ for Hornet slagging)
God DAMN!!!! Looked like the approach was too fast????? Those carrier pilots have my respect for doing this day in day out. Good job the other Hornets were not crashed into. How many millions would THAT have cost????
The F-117A “bulked up” to the max methinks..!!
Never mind…sit back and watch on of my fav ads at the moment. Its a car ad (VW I thinks) and features a digitally remastered Gene Kelly doing his “Singin’ in the Rain” routine. Only he’s doing some very funky dance moves…. 😎
The one where Homer is trying to lose weight and marge is commisioned by Mr. Burns to paint his portrait….
Homer…”Marge, Marge I lost 5 pounds”
Mr. Burns…”Let me get this straight…you’re happy with your appearance? Why my good man you’re the fattest thing I’ve ever seen – and I’VE been on safari!”
Smithers…”Good one sir”
Also in said episode after Marge reveals the nude portrait of Mr. Burns….
Mr. Burns…”Thanks for not making fun of my genitalia”
Marge (to Homer)…”I thought I did”
BUFF is a friendly accronym given to the B-52 and satnds for Big Ugly Fat F*****. A cleaner version is Big Ugly Fat Fella…
You may be interested to know that the A-7 was nicknamed SLUF which satnds for Slow Ugly Fat F*****….
