Interesting how experience can give a different view on things. My experience is that the NHS is a vastly improved organization than that of 20 years ago and all I see is a government determined to screw it up for their own ends. No it isn’t perfect but no organization of the scale of the NHS can ever be so.
Any treatment myself or my family have needed has been based on our need, nobody judged our lifestyle, our habits or diet or past history to determine whether we were worthy of treatment. We were treated because we needed it. What a great system.

but the point is that was when the country could afford to do so !!

we had industry , an empire , people could be picky where they worked

practicaly everyone smoked so paid extra tax ,

money has to come from somewhere with ever growing unemployment and ever shrinking empire and industry

there will have to be new methods braught in to save money and why shouldn’t it be mellingerers that are a constant burden ignoring good sound advice

if a mechanic tells you not to take your car as he has not finnished a brake job you leave it as you know it is dangerous

yet the same advice from a medical expert and certain individuals have the ” bollo*ks to him attitude !” and carry on !!

    Lincoln.

You have my sincere apologies. Imisread your 30 a day comment. However, I believe you said you had pacreatic cancer? If so, then surely you are aware that smoking more than 25 cigarettes a day increases the risk of you developing pancreatic cancer? Therefore, the likelihood is that your smoking is at least a contributory factor to the illness.

    Cheque payable to the NHS?

    Regards,

    kev35

but as he has quoted he’s given up knowing the problem … the past has gone

but why should others not pay when the behaviour is continued flouting advice

i have watched the same old drunks assaulting staff on a regular basis

and cancer patients backwards and forwards to the doors for a sly baccy !!

If Lincoln and tornado insist that people be charged for their treatment then surely they should be in line for hefty, if retrospective, bills. Tornado for his stupidity on motorbikes, his smoking and heavy drinking and Lincoln for his 30 year history of smoking.

Cheques made payable to the NHS gents?

    Regards,

    kev35

the trouble is though that i see it is fair to treat people for one off accidents or illnesses that are not thier fault

but i attend hospitals and observe the same old soaks causing trouble whilst being treated

i see cancer patients choking and near death saying ” it’s my only pleasure !”

” what ? having legs amputated and dying ? “

and if you are proved at fault for an RTA through stupidity why not

yes i had many injuries through motorcycles but only once did i get treated

the rest i did myself ( chemists are marvellous and have a superb range !! )

and even butterfly stitches are pretty easy to do yourself

why should i take up valuable space if i have been a pr**k

and nurses did the cleaning, not contracted out to outsiders who don’t give a damn.
    Lincoln .7

i have just attended a health and safety course for work on monitoring infection

but going back a few years ago when i supervised cleaners

we had one lad of foreign nationality who had to be told off every day

“NO !! RED CLOTHS ARE TOILETS ONLY !”” this was in a school but i can’t see hospital staff being any difrent

as greed sees less staff , paid less but expected to do more !!

but why shouldn’t people be charged for irresponsible behaviour ???

i knew smoking was bad for me …….i gave up
i knew drinking heavily was bad for me …………i now drink very rareley
i know fast riding was dangerous i slowed down

if people are not getting the message after heart attacks , amputations , cancer and repeated advice and warnings from doctors why shouldn’t they pay ??

it seems to be a british thig that we have a god given right to free medical treatment no mater how we got there or how irresponsible we were

why should a mallingering no mark boozed up pratt be taking up a space when there could be a child with meningitis behind them losing valuable treatment time !!

in response to the motorcycle ( for instance ) there has always been a charge for treating RTA’S often goes through insurance

although beurocracy made it difficult to be paid

there is a new bill going through that is going to change that

to make it easier to charge !!
