It is, however, the only reason justifying why the media calls the F-35 a trillion-dollar program — because official cost estimates have to game out the overall cost of the whole ~2,500 F-35 fleet from 1994 to 2070 (76 years), including operating and maintenance (fuel, salaries, spare parts, etc.), and including inflation out to 2070, under the assumption that it will be in service (i.e. stay relevant) that long. If you’re one of the the types who think the F-35 will be rapidly obsoleted by magic anti-stealth radar etc., then logically you also believe that it won’t actually be a trillion-dollar program, and it’d be hypocritical (or at least, logically inconsistent) to call it one.

I also expect this will be a non issue for EM catapults given the acceleration profile will be a lot smoother and F-35C will likely be launched from a lot more EM catapults over its life that steam.

In fact there are several possibilities to solve such problem. Most required extensive analysis that are better done once the configuration has been fixed.
For example, aside of electromagnetic dampening, I think that it was with the Corsair that Vought introduced dimples on the oleo legs to dampen the oscillation of the struts resulting from carrier deck landing. Playing similarly with the flex strain might be another solution.

Very good find, but i want to add that Gripen NG has much higher wingloading than Gripen C despite practically the same aerodynamic configuration
IMHO he probably estimated it from airfoil chracteristics or took information from soviet aerodynamic booklet
M2K wing is a pure delta hence thin wing aero theory for delta wings applies (up to ~28deg AoA). Airfoill thickness is known and Cl component can be approximated.
