    1. I am not French

    2. I said that as of today, perhaps Rafale may still the best choice due to the lack of maturity of the F-35, but that in a few years this will change and then the best choice will be F-35 (although another qualifyier is still needed — that this is of course considering technical capabilities only, and not other factors like ToT, offsets, politics, etc. — if those other factors are considered then Rafale may still be the preferred choice as recentl witnessed in India)

    LACK OF MATURITY!?!
So far nobody has asked LM to add 1/2 the price of the plane for improvments. Please to all poster here, this thread need to supercruise to reach an end sooner. I can sense A[d]IM-[in] closing in because of the arguments spiral.

that’s probably what Saab’s engineer could have better use their time instead of working on the E: a large, low op cost, bomb bay fitted (oblique), frontal stealth fighter. Then, that it would have looked like a Canard 106, that’s totally another question.

what is notable (once again) is the exstensive Canard studies made in the US Prior to the Eu industry and the discard of that technogy (prior to EU ?). Sorry for the repetition, I might got aged.

P&W outmatch GE by a factor of two! (yes, nothing better to do)

Can’t open link. What is sure is that Airbus factory in Poland (conversely to Sikorsky or Agusta Westland are not situated within new government voters zones…

What you write is highly controversial without much to fill it. Although I am sure Polish politics does not shine on every corner like plenty of Eu democracy, in that case, anyone paying a bit of attention to that deal should have noted that recentely the Polish mod reminded all that he did specify targeted financial objectives for the production line in Poland. Airbus choose to manufacture the old Puma there.
In light of the recent setback following the Norway crash, the MGB failure etc… it is obvious that Airbus could have difficulty arguing that it will fullfill the best RoI with a Puma derivative when all predict a shrinking market for that model that has already multiple production lines.

Instead of fingerpointing somewhere in the fog of local politics, the above is more a rational explanation*, isn’t it?

Cut weight -> get the plane more tolerant in alpha (drag raise sharply for a delta – the sluggish feeling) and then do what has been done with the systems.
A reworked airframe would have been less a burden on maintenance (large composite panels – less frame with more accessible volumes) and retrofit (cutting cost of any upgrades). Add to that a rewiring.

Historically, a 2kNG wouldn’t have cast some shadows on Rafale prospects ( no sale were recorded). On the contrary, it would have produced a dynamic for the commune systems and cap the raise of the Mig, Saab and Sukhoi. Additionally it would have helped nurturing a larger customer base (not something anecdotal today!).

Yes but it depends of the altitude of the target area.*
So a minimum will be 15 Dhruv that makes a force of 20 with spare and command.

*I was more clinching at 5 to 7

Impressive raid. 90min is a short time.
How many commandos are carried by a single Drhuv?

“The impossible takes a little longer”*

Not really related to aero but fits well the present technology race witnessed by the Industry.

    *or in its Latin form

Korea’s Surion beset by icing issue amid gearbox grounding

KAI confirms that it will need to redesign engine parts that ice up in certain conditions.
    […]
The South Korean army operates 45 examples, with orders for 47 more, KAI has four, and the Korea National Policy Agency has three, with a firm order for another. In addition, the South Korean Forestry Aviation office has a single Surion on order.

KAI says that only the three helicopters operated by the police are still flying.

57% of the fleet is affected by the Gear Box issue deemed to be replaced (Airbus design identical to the H225).

    Ok.
What tech does the Raf introduced in the “we” country when it came online?

I have already mentioned 70’s manufacturing tech and weight. How do you think the Grip got a place in the league ?

The most ridiculous thing is that it would have been partly a straightforward thing to do in a record time. But someone draw a line in the sand and history turn it into a failure.

I really see the SH in Indian colors. They have the same “appeal” than their Su30,when it comes to makes rounds in the sky, there is a huge possibility of having to sustain a large fleet (US Navy, Canada? and IAF) for the next 30 years and the SH is the best thing to match Chinese jet aside of the 35 and PakFa. And, the golden nuggets, you can expect some Growler to lead and deter without a single shot. With the massive Indian IT sector, I can not see how quickly they would gain front row expertise among the best in the league (US hardware and Indian software).

So, after more Teja, the Super 30 and PakFa, a proven front league design tuned to face exactly their potential opponents at sea, easily sustained through a logistic pack, should do the trick at a reasonable cost for India.
I have written that already but there is even some money to do probably. Not something that would get unnoticed during a general election

So, what did the 5, 9 and “I” did for the aircraft cell?

I can see that you don’t know where M2K-5 (/mk2/-9) came from.

That really funny. You are a farce. A freaky one I would say. Do you understand the meaning of our conversation?
Where does the -9, the -5 and “I” got their improved airframe? What are those customer complaining about?

nonsense… the Mirage successor (a better aircraft) was being studied since 1978, even before first Mirage 2000 entered service.

as for the upgrades for M2k, while Dassault proposed it in the late 90’s – early 2000, nobody wanted it anymore, even upgraded. As a result you can be sure it wouldn’t take any orders from the Gripen that would have the edge, if anything, because it is a more modern concept. And Dassault would never have been able to sell it to any of the markets that the Rafale gets today for pretty much the same reason. Another point is that as the Mirage is not carrier capable (and absolutely unrealistic to imagine such modifications), the french navy would have been forced to get their fleet fighters elsewhere, reducing even more Dassault sales. What’s more, the Rafale as of today, has more export orders than the Gripen

Basically, there’s no contest between the Rafale and Mirage 2000.. the latter did what it had to do, but the new bird is what Dassault needed to continue its development.

It was in the early 90’s. Nobody wanted anything.

With the work done on the Rafale, all that experience could have been piped back to the Mirage (a late 70’s airfraime with all the unnecessary added weight) to close the gap where the Gripen so successfully engulfed itself.

By sharing most of it system with the Rafale, a 2K NG would have won many of the market share swallowed by the Su30, Typhoon T1 and Gripen. Moreover, this share of systems would have been beneficial to the Rafale by helping to keep costs down.

I can see only a lack of vision in it.
