I really do think that all this story is a little bit hyped. RD180 tech is successful because of the better ratio of low wage PhD on the Russian prod process. The high pressure chamber might be not the most suited for the US industry thanks to higher wages. I am confident that Other means to perform will exist (again).

So, no Re-routed RD180 for China unless we see another diplomatic struggle around an International crisis. Interestingly, China might not even need it…

RD180? That ‘s another hot-potato, but this time for the US. If Nasa management didn’t attempt to genetically re-engineer it’s rocket engine supplier network in the 80’s by imposing the adaptation of high pressure combustion chamber, Rocketdyn (NorthAm), would probably be still leading the pace in High power rocket engine with their own design (Aerospike?).
