But I think this is related to the inert gas filling of the 35’s tanks in flight. Since they have to empty the tanks after each flight, I guess that a significant amount of gas is ingested in the fuel truck. So, IMOHO, the 4k$ is lower than the cost of fitting a mitiger on each fuel truck or a dedicated cooling unit (what they wld hve to buy anyway for the parked plane).
And, frankly this prog is a regal in term of laugh.

Regarding the 35C and carrier trial.
We had a discussion regarding the flame on the surface of the deck after a catapult launch with reheat. I suggested that they use to poor some liquid to make for a cheap thermal barrier.
We have now the confirmation. It seems to be more permanent that what was envisioned given the famous Deck Coating controversy.

performed the basic orifi ce modifi cation on USS Nimitz
(CVN-68) for the November DT-1.

Juts to extend the discussion, Judging from the video (thx – never seen that one despite browsing extensively the San Diego archive museum) it seems that the bird had too much diedral and too high main landing gear.
We can see that it is very sensitive to cross wind with the wing raising as soon as lift off happens. The CG high with the nose wheel down aggravates this. Just like the soft damping of the main landing gear.
To put thing in contest, the Caribou and Provider shld be the main references.
AirAsia crash ‘not due to terrorism’ – investigators

If Dassault had the option of building them at 55 per year like Boeing and spreading out the development cost over couple of hundred aircraft, it would be dominating the market today.
