I remember reading that story in the early 90’s. So this must have been circulating around since a long time.
IIRC, at that times, RCS reduction measures were not the primary part of requirements for “5th gen” fighters. The MiG 1.44 was aimed at mutirole capabilities, long-range supercruise, extensive use of lithium and composites, as well as super-maneuvrability due to unstable design with FBW and TVC. In early 80s, for RCS reduction, canted tails, internal weapons bay, serpentine ducts and wide use of RAM were considered as adequate.
You’d pretty much nailed it. I would have added the intention to introduce plasma steath technologies. But this is my own belief only.
right now, all three have equal chances of being true. I think MiG have only themselves to blame for not coming out even (via independent funding on small scale, proof of concept type of thing) with anything remotely resembling a “5th” generation fighter.

They need decoys to draw fire and a stand off platform to precision strike with something that can fly to target in 60 seconds or less at about $3k apiece. Maybe they could use a jet powered counterpart to the Spectre gunship that could lob 105’s from 30 thousand feet.
Cost is the key here. Otherwise the multiplication of the long beard could be a strategy by an ill-intentioned state to shove off the defense budgets of their future planed opponents.
Perhaps that your idea of a smaller/faster/nastier Spectre is the answer. Something with all upgraded precision guided new artillery.

All I can say is that I have seen this since a long time. I am not sure but it might have been added before the reception test. But not all aircrafts might have been fitted with this in the same time.

The comparison is a bit hairy, no ?
The tolerances on a Typhoon might be tighter than on a MR2. Something some might have step aside without noticing.
Tighter generally means more investment in machinery, worker, delay on the production line… This adds costs. It’s then upon the project manager, the program steering committee and the CEO to ensure that competitors will be selected on rightful basis that ensure the requirement are met.
And that works only when all is going well… hardly something that you can say speaking about the EuroTrefonds
*if they are generally incompetent, fire away, if they are actually useful, then hold onto them – good executives are as rare as hen’s teeth.
Is that the new CEO at Aerotec that your are thinking of because I can’t really see how it can be otherwise browsing for the new names among that debacle?
