Two Kadena F-15s Made Emergency Arrested Landings In Opposite Directions On The Same Runway

Both plane didn’t land simultaneously but 5 min appart. The second plane landed while the first one was still stranded in the cable, hence landing on the opposite side of the runway (one single runway available).

According to witnesses, fire engines and others waited at around 10:26 am, one F 15 fighter aircraft entered the south runway from Okinawa City, stopped at hook landing.

While the Aircraft is undergoing emergency inspection on the runway, another F 15 fighter aircraft enters the south runway from the direction of Chatancho in the opposite direction around 5:00 am, around 10:31 am and another wire I used an emergency landing with a hook landing.

It remain curious that two plane will see a catastrophic system failure in such a short time with the absence of any visible damage, pointing to a sustained tempo of operations. Speculation’s bar open, guys.

Defense analysts say Pyongyang is particularly threatened by the new stealth fighters since they can penetrate the North’s air defenses and eliminate key targets with ease. Last March, the North’s state media called the deployment of such jets akin to an “anti-nation crime.”

For this reason, the South’s military is considering at least toning down its deployment ceremony for the new jets and proceeding with its future armament acquisitions in a low-key way.

As I understand, if 1.9B€ have been credited for the standard F4, fully compatible airframe are expected to come out of the line in 2025. Before that, the remaining order from the Fr air force, 28 airframe will benefit from various level of implementation of F4 standard. Beyond that date, past 2025, Fr Air force might order some extra airframe (full complement expected b/w 2022/24).

Export orders partially implemented with F4 upgrade mods* will be available for delivery (if ordered) b/w 2024/25. Then the opinion of the journalist writing the report is that Fr AdlA or the Fr navy might order some more (those will then be full F4 standardized airframe). This seems to be only his personal opinion as, if I must admit that I did not read the full MoD memo, he doesn’t explicitly says that Miss Parly hasn’t said otherwise:

B-2 bombers deploy to Hawaii

Three B-2 Spirit bombers and more than 200 Airmen, from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, deployed, here in support of U.S. Strategic Command’s (USSTRATCOM) Bomber Task Force (BTF) mission, Jan. 10, 2019.

Bomber aircraft regularly rotate through the Indo-Pacific region to integrate capabilities with key regional partners and maintain a high state of aircrew proficiency.

“This training is crucial to maintaining our regional interoperability,” said Lt. Col. Joshua Dorr, 393rd Bomb Squadron director of operation. “It affords us the opportunity to work with our allies in joint exercises and validates our always-ready global strike capability.”

Although the Spirit has trained in the region multiple times in the past, utilizing Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, this deployment marks the second time the Spirit has deployed to JBPH-H supporting the BTF mission.
