Makes you wonder what was all the fuzz with Germans wanting to regulate any future export of the Franco-German project when Dassault itself is the one backing out of any major deal
Boeing has issued a safety message to pilots on how to handle erroneous data from a key sensor on its 737 MAX aircraft in the wake of last week’s deadly Lion Air crash in Indonesia.
The Chicago-based manufacturer said investigators probing the crash of Flight JT610, in which all 189 on board were killed, had found that one of the “angle of attack” sensors on the brand new plane had provided incorrect readings.
And from Boeing (http://boeing.mediaroom.com/news-releases-statements?item=130327)
Boeing is providing support and technical assistance to the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee and other government authorities responsible for the investigation into Lion Air flight 610.
The Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee has indicated that Lion Air flight 610 experienced erroneous input from one of its AOA (Angle of Attack) sensors.
Whenever appropriate, Boeing, as part of its usual processes, issues bulletins or makes recommendations regarding the operation of its aircraft.
On November 6, 2018, Boeing issued an Operations Manual Bulletin (OMB) directing operators to existing flight crew procedures to address circumstances where there is erroneous input from an AOA sensor.
The investigation into Lion Air flight 610 is ongoing and Boeing continues to cooperate fully and provide technical assistance at the request and under the direction of government authorities investigating the accident.

In every domain (aircraft design, radar, optics, EW, engines…) France is at top level with a few other countries. The situation would be different for some other nations where the gap to reach the next generation is much bigger.
This is a very personal interpretation of facts. I know that it is kind popular for French millennial to ever be fond of the same songs and artist as their parents… but Aerospace industry is different. The never ending mining of 1980’s technologies does not represent the future today.
This is very good post (not implying that it is your first !).
Russian Su-27 Fighter Jet Intercepts U.S. Navy EP-3 Aries Reconnaissance Aircraft Over Black Sea
This is not an intercept. This a freaking murder attempt.
There was a picture in one of the Fr media illustrating the beginning of test flight in the Sth-East of France . Sadly, I can’t find the link anywhere for now.
Some J20 low alt pass during the airshow

We can see that the airframe are quite light weight. So either they went the Zero way to compensate a low power output, something that should be noticed with attention, either those aircraft are devoid of much of their mil systems.
Low speed “high” AoA pass of J10B TVC
I read at the time the 1st was rolled out that they are still in full F3R (?) configuration and all the specific systems for India will be added there. But does this includes the engines?
bank guarantees [from the Fr gov] were obtained for the offsets part of the deal, empowering the ministry to penalise French firms that do not follow the norms.

India’s top court gives govt 10 days to reveal details of military jet deal
The Supreme Court ruled that if the material was strategic in nature or involved national security, the government might choose not to reveal it to the petitioners, but will instead have to furnish it to the court in a sealed package.
“We ask the center to give details of the pricing and strategic details of Rafale fighter aircraft in sealed cover in 10 days,” Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said, referring to the government.
[The court] directed the government to submit the documents with details, including the selection of the Indian partner, in 10 days and to make the information public. Content considered to be confidential can be submitted in sealed envelope, the court said in its order.
and
“Confidentiality does not relate to price, only technical specifications,” he added. “It will be subject to challenge. It will be difficult to say pricing is confidential.”

In a recent interview to CNBC, Dassault CEO Eric Trappier had claimed his company chose Reliance ADAG as its offsets partner because it had land available next to an airport. However, the land was only given to Reliance by the state government after it had reached an understanding with Dassault to collaborate on the Rafale.
According to a Dassault press release, Reliance Aerostructure’s joint venture with Dassault Aviation – Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited (DRAL) – was formally incorporated in 2017 but goes all the way back to April 2015.

makes sense 😉
just as a reminder of the past history, but Belgium partnerships was highly profitable to Dassault both in term of capital and technology. Perhaps that with the recent debacle should come the time to alleviate the says from some both in terms of capital escape and lags in technology.
