Is Double Trouble Two still in Switzerland? There was a rumour recently about it having found new owners within Europe, any truth in this?

She was hibernating at Salzburg (Austria) from October until February and had the Propeller sent to the U.S. for overhaul. She is still owned by Max Vogelsang and I will see her coming Sunday at Berne (75 years of Berne Airport airshow).

The rumours started, when last autumn she was placed among the ‘Red Bull’ collection at Salzburg in Hangar 7 and stayed there for quite some time. Some ‘know-it-all’ then announced that as per technicians she had been acquired by the RB-owner as addition to his collection (B-25, F4U, T-28, among others).

I am happy that DT2 is still here.

    hmm…

so why is N51EA “Double Trouble Two”, based in Switzerland since 1990, still flying as such and doesn’t carry HB-regs ?

Because the holding company is domiciliated in the U.S.
Or are you talking about the UK-US relation in specific ?

    Hi

I photographed this ship (with a handful of other Catalinas) in the mid-80’s at Parry Sound, ONT, when it was just s.o.c. with Avalon Aviation, a Firefighting entity, that lost its State contract.

Will have to dig out the photographs / negatives.
