a formal investigation seems to be a bit extreme? i mean what have they actually done wrong? the HLF gave them money to make her fly and she has flown, albeit only once but none the less, she has flown!
yes she is a whopper, she’s not extinct yet!
i suppose and rather hoped that i made its way back to the uk though the article i found made no reference pertaining that it came to the uk, just that the Raf tested one
both were taken mid 80’s at Raf cosford the vulcan shown was the last intact vulcan B1 and the victor was one of the last B1’s though there is another B1 at Dx i think the above example was the last pure bomber version. amid much contraversy both aircraft were scrapped in 1985/1986 much to my everlasting disgust that these two unique airframes perished before i was born!
quite sadly, none survive, though according to various sources, the Raf recovered one for testing, i wonder if its under the main runway at brize 😀 :diablo:
in terms of aesthetics i think that the first mark of victor was a much better looking aircrat than the vulcan

No contest really
i really must make it a mission to go and visit elvington and brunty to see these wonderful aircraft on an active day!
DAMMIT that was wondering through my head earlier!!!
you never know, im banking on rolls royce hoarding things like that, my uncle is one of the head people out in italy for RR ill have a chat with him and see what he can dig up 🙂
I recall someone on the forum mentioning the name “Trenchard” before, though i cannot see that being the name for such a beautiful aircraft, as most aircraft in the RAF have names that either relate to meterological conditions ie “lightning, tornado, hurricane typhoon” or a name that pertains to winning ie victor, valiant im sure there are others but those are the only ones that spring to mind
som truly beautiful pictures, really brightened up my day
thankyou for posting 🙂
so another 4000 hours added onto her airframe thats a fairly impressive figure, spare conways wont be hard to come by, since the VC10’s are on their way out soonish, when ive made my millions, ill be in touch 😀
what sort of life extension would you be looking at? and at what cost? purely out of interest 🙂 it seems to me that lindy is in the best condition when compared to Tina at brunty?
cheers, having looked a little closer, i see that you are right, concerning the runway it seemed like it had a perry track all the way round it, which typically caused me to jump to a conclusion 🙂
… they were a bit hopeful weren’t they.
Wouldnt you be? seriously if you happened to be a pilot in the Raf and then seeing and reading about what could quite possibly be the best combat aircraft in the world, completely state of the art and breathtaking performance, wouldn’t you be a bit hopeful? i know i would be… 🙂
