An excellent weekend indeed however, the more astute may spot some non U.S.Naval ware such as the F-104C, F-111 and the YB-58 !!
But, here is my VC 10 column, purchased at said event,

Nice one FB!
I’m after one of those too!
Narrowly missed out on one the other night on e(vil)-bay! I fortunately managed to get a VC 10 yoke and upper column at Cockpit-fest a few weeks ago. If anyone does have a spare hub cap they are willing to part with???

Hi Alan,
Starting from the left, it can be just made out from that data plate of the right hand grip, is AC 12590 the second type to be fitted to the early Hunter and the NF20 Venom. It was modified (Dunlop /2214 Sep 54), from the original handle (AC 10922) by enlarging the cavity in the top of the grip where the switches go. The second one looks as it reads, AC 13642 – Javelin (all Marks except the Mk 9). The next pair look to be AC 10522 or AC 1400/10800 – fitted to Meteor, Venom, Vampire, Wyvern, Attacker and a few more! The next two pictures look to be of all the same AC 10300 (Vampire T11, Attacker, Wyvern, Sea Venom) or the AC 11232 sea Hawk. The final handle is off a Swift F1, F2, AC 12586, again modified (Dunlop/2210 Sep 54), in a similar fashion to the Hunter mentioned above from the original AC 11236.
Hi Alan,
More likely ‘Scout’ the two upper left and right hand switch cavities are of differing sizes and the ‘hoist’ control is usually on the collective (but, not always!) quick, fuzzy Scout pix attached!

During my 22 years of service in the RAF, the initials ‘BR’ always referred to ‘Beyond Repair’

‘Fighter Squadrons of the RAF and their aircraft’ by John Rawlings lists a MkVc as LZ929/HN O

Isn’t the AH no. Also Meteor fitment?
It is indeed! The AH 8400 was also used in the Sea Fury (up to the Mk X), Spiteful, Balliol T1, Vampire F1-F9, Venom FB1/4 (pre Mod315), Spitfire F22/24 and yes, Mk 4 Meteor. I also have a picture somewhere, of it even being used on a late Night Fighter Mosquito!

This is the second time this has appeared, first sold for £410!

Did we loose any F22/24 Spitfires during the war???

Hi Guys, hopefully you can help identify the grip that I recently received as a present. PT. No. 10300 ISS 6257 No. 7293
Can’t seem to add any photos for some reason but will try again later.
Cheers.
Hi Brightspark180,
Ian is indeed correct in err’ing toward Vampire (T11/T22).
However, it was also fitted to the Supermarine Attacker, Westland Wyvern S4, Sea Venom F21/22/53 and possibly others too. Although, given the gargantuan number of Vampire T11’s built, it is more likely to be from a Vampire but, you never know!

Anybody with serious spare cash to ‘invest’ how about these:
However, click on their ‘other items’ they have a fair few Phantom panels at more reasonable prices.

Runway06, can you check that auction # for the Nimrod wheel please. I’ve searched both US and UK Ebay and cannot come up with it. Searched on “Nimrod” too and came up empty…including in the “sold items”. Thank you: Swifter
Nick,
It might be because it is ‘collect in person’ that the e-bay.com wouldn’t pick it up, I brought a Tornado GR4 grip off these guys late last year and it cost me over £40 to get a courier to pick it up for me!

Speaking of Ju 88’s, how about this?
Pricey though!

Martyn,
I was looking for some Dunlop grip information myself and found an interesting article from the curator of the RAF Museum. He mentions they have 2 original Dunlop grip brochures in their collection, which contain detailed information. You may have contacted them before, but i just thought i should mention it anyway.

Hi Bas,
Funny you should mention this, as only yesterday I received some gems from their archive!

Tony,
That Mozzie grip is certainly in better condition than your original post but, both are equally as desirable and I would love either one!!!
I have another intriguing grip (AC 1398), a Dunlop produced item although, I can not seem to find any physical photographic evidence of it’s fitment so, can anyone else give any specific use to this grip?
Numerically, it is immediately before the ‘well known’ AC 1400, fitted to Vampire and Meteor etc. and the references I have of the AC 1400 mention that the grip is also available with the ‘dive recovery’ switch. I am also informed that it was probably only produced in very small numbers (less than 10), for use with experimental aircraft. However, countless hours searching the web has proved fruitless.
