Hi Alan,
Certainly the GR1 and T2’s, many of which were subsequently upgraded to either the GR3/T4 standard, though still retaining this grip; the change happened when the Mod for the Sidewinder changed to the style of grip in your pictures in post #1 akin to the FRS1 style.
However, Gok0ne has a beautiful early version of this style of early Harrier grip, with the Dunlop ‘crinkly’ covering that ian_ and I were both drooling over most jealously at Cockpitfest 2014!

Certainly not stolen! I had permission to steal it, that’s different!

Not Dragonfly, more likely Whirlwind Co-Pilot/Left hand seat, here’s one I liberated earlier, well about 1988 at Guetersloh actually! (This was from a HAR10 used as a BDR airframe)

I agree fully with Tony and Ian’s identifications for the column fitted grips but, normally with a ‘Tank grip’ the pre-fix FV appears in the part numbering to denote ‘Fighting Vehicle’ if that helps? Could it be an example of an export Hawk/Goshawk perhaps?

Further to the Nuclear Rockets, the F106 Delta Dart (what a beautiful aircraft) had similar, from an article I’ve read it was a case of ‘fire, quick about turn, Run !!!!!!!!!!!……………’
Hi Mike,
Totally agree re. the F106, it was a popular mount for RAF exchange Lightning pilots (my personal ‘beautiful’ aircraft BTW), and the quest to obtain a grip/yoke from a 106 is still ongoing!! (Seen quite a few 102’s!)
The rocket armament seems to have been the norm and ‘new must have thang’ during the 50’s/60’s but, it took the exploits and experience of brave airmen in actions during the Vietnam war to ensure that the ‘Gun’ still had a much valued use in air to air combat, so that it now is still retained in modern fighters!

Hi Howard,
Thanks for that, I will therefore present myself expediently to mission control upon arrival then!
See you all on Friday!

Hi Howard,
Have ‘Entry Tickets’ been sent out? Or are they to be picked up in the ‘nerve-centre caravan’ upon touchdown at NAM Friday afternoon?? Not received anything via the post since returning my electronic invite form to Colin yonks ago!

Note to self: Must go to Specsavers!
Dave, was that your AV-8B too (though gutted) gracing the evil one earlier (now sold and subsequently gone!?!), nose art looked familiar?
Not Attacker, it’s Scimitar

Hi Tim,
I don’t suppose you have any of the press to transmit switches (item 3 in Rob’s pix) within your ‘Aladin’s Cave’ perchance??
My pleasure, and actually digging a cover out of stores as I type!

Attacker Instrument Panel (390852876085), project for the mighty Wyvernfan stable perhaps??

Hi WA
The correct part number for the T11 grip is actually AC10300 and is used on both student and instructor columns but, as you say above, there seems to be no physical difference between the two!!! I have added a picture for you. If you are coming up to Cockpitfest next month there is a strong possibility of one turning up in the aero-jumble, I have unfortunately off loaded all my surplus, I think I had about 3 spares at one stage!

Hi Rob,
No. 3 is the ‘press to transmit’ radio key.
By some strange coincidence however, (following your request for a T4 yoke), I spent most of last Saturday afternoon grinding out the right hand horn of a T4 yoke to fit the ‘interdictor’ switch assembly to my ‘new’ T4 yoke in readiness for next months extravaganza at Newark!

Hi Jason,
It is not unusual to come across ‘New’ old stock from time to time and with the camera switch bracket, it does make it very desirable! However, many will perhaps feel less likely to pay as much for a grip that has not actually been fitted to an aircraft and flown but, it doesn’t bother me, I would love it too!

Hi Mike,
There is quite a good blog regarding the restoration of an F89J and some lovely photos and videos of the restored cockpits. One of the earlier ‘blogs’ showed the part restored rear cockpit with a circular hole where the controller should be! The link is:
