Fiat @ Duxford
I understand a large actuating rod for the flap system (?) was removed for incorporating into an engine hoist project when it was at Duxford…
Nothing would surprise me! If you happen to see it kicking around the place please let me know.
The undercarriage actuators are quite something – for such a compact aeroplane they’re bl00dy huge!

Fiat Bits
Thanks Luckyone. I’ve dropped you a pm and look forward to hearing from you shortly.
If anyone knows of a set of tools for a Gipsy Queen (especially series 30), I’d like to hear!
Thanks,

Fiat
Hi Anon,
Thanks for the offer of the spinner, very much appreciated and it’ll go a long way to completing the jigsaw! We have a prop being delivered this week and some spare blades would be useful – any idea what you would be looking for for them? We may need them to get this prop running again, but at the very least it would be good to have them available in case of a prop-strike.
Thanks,
G
True id
To answer a query raised previously regarding the spurious serial MM53211, the actual id. of the Fiat is now confirmed.
The small oval constructors plates attached to the fuselage and wing quote the number NC.32 which has been confirmed as MM52799. So, it’s long held secret is finally out.
The fuselage is currently being prepared for splitting. Once done the forward section will be placed in the jig and the rear section will go elsewhere to be rebuilt with new skins.
If anyone is interested in getting involved please drop me a pm. There’s plenty to be done!

Queen 2
I don’t think anythng we have spare will fit the Queen 2. You may well know better, however, so please pm me a list of what you’re after.

Provost
Thanks Buccsociety, I look forward to receiving the details.

Sleap Provost
Good to hear she’ll be getting the attention she needs. From what I’d seen of her she wasn’t suitable for our needs.

AGS Stuff
We’re received a few PM’s about the AGS stuff we’ve got. Well, having had a few minutes free a couple of weeks ago to go through a few boxes, the first few lines are as follows. We have a couple of tonnes, this represents a couple of boxes worth. As get the time I’ll add more to the list as I have a chance to go through more. All this stuff is available as we’re not doing anything British.

We have a couple of tonnes of AGS which we’re slowly working through. Come on down and take a look or drop me a list.

The Hawke connection
I don’t believe the deal to sell it to Jeff Hawke was ever consumated, hence she was picked up by Patrick Luscombe of the British Air Reserve and it went off to them. Also, the B-25 ended up with Aces High rather than Hawke for the same reason. That’s as I understand it anyway!

Southend Fiat
That’s interesting. I’ve seen a photo of her dismantled at Shoreham before going to Southend, so it seems she put herself about a bit!

G.46
Yes, MM53211 was a spurious number. We know the construction number from the airframe and this is being checked against Fiat records.
The photos of the other Fiats are interesting. If there are any other “distressed” Fiats still kicking around out there I’d be interested in taking another on. We have the jigs and tooling so it makes sense.

Lanc Trim Wheel
We have a trim wheel (the phenolic wheel – AS.102 I believe). Drop me a PM if you’re interested.

Yes, sorry. Now suitably purged!

AGS
If you need any AGS let me know. We have a couple of tonnes covering bolts, nuts, washers, nutplates, hydraulic fittings, etc.
