I complained about noise to Manchester airport once. Does that make me a NIMBY or a just a brassed off citizen? Engine-running a turboprop at 6am on a Sunday morning – honestly.

A complaint every now and then makes you not a NIMBY. I complain to the neighbour sometimes about the way he parks his car, does not mean I want him to leave. But when someone makes 200odd complaints a day, every day… then that definately qualifies as a NIMBY.

There’s no defined line between where a disgruntled citizen becomes a NIMBY. Depends on the circumstances I suppose. The #1 NIMBY for Schiphol lives 30odd KMs from the airport. I think you’ll agree that a complaint from him carries less weight then a complaint from someone living right next to the perimeter fence.

But even if they win the competition, and the odds are very much in their favour, then that still won’t make much change to the 767 output. The tanker contract is a long term contract. It’s not as if Boeing is suddently expected to roll out a tanker every week. A tanker a month at best, and probably not even that.

Would this be for spotting only, or would you also want to include other things? If the latter, are you more a beach/party guy or a city-trip guy?

Obvious choises combining city and spotting are MAD, DUS, CDG and AMS. I am not really a beach-party guy so can´t comment on those. FRA is good for spotting (look out for a photo thread coming in a few days from yours truly) but the city itself is for the most part not really interesting to tourists. WW2 and post WW2 reconstruction really took its toll on this city.

Why? Unless they win the tanker bid then the 767 line is as good as dead. And even if they win the tanker bid, the amount of deliveries will probably not be that much (1 or 2 a month?), so why invest loads of money into making the line more efficient?

BTW, anyone remember the Gulfstream 1?

Well !! Thank you all once again for your help with this ……. agincourt, thanks for that link, very interesting ? if you click ‘fleet’ it shows photos of a F100 but registered F-GNLI ?? Now my problem is …. my photo shows the other side of the aircraft with an Italian registration …. is their photo the other side of the same aircraft with a French registration ?? and to add to the query … F-GNLI was floating around here at NWI for quite some time wearing a colour scheme I cannot remember ???? (age problem) And also I do not know which of the various F100’s the Italian registered one was before its respray to Eagles Airlines ….. Does any previous i/d show on the Italian register, if anyone has access to it ?????

    Keith.

Airfleets.net confirms that F-GNLI was changed into I-GIOA effective 22JUL. But since you made your photo 16JUL it seems airfleets is a bit off with the date. Or the spray shop added the new registration early.

Anyone else notice that the photo on Eagle Airlines’s first page is a photo-shop, and a poor one at that!

I like it 😀 notice its also on the belly guess that the new thing now since Emirates have started

Actually, belly titles are nothing new. They where used a lot in the 30s and 40s. Back then the planes flew low enough that such advertising actually made sense.
