When I was there last week, these were the words being used about his S-38. He had been after it for years, out of reach, had a flight in it with owner and pulled off a deal.
Jeepman…your knowledge of all things TT and Gary B is impressive to my lady (who is the biggest TT fan in the world!)……I am not sure impressive is the word I would use tho!!
regarding Griffons, I saw one available in the US, a few weeks ago for way below that figure!!!
I would suggest that anyone with even an ex Shack Griffon might wish to keep it should the Burma spits materialise (RR/BBMF developed a reduction gear box mod)
The dug Merlin was sent back to its owner. The delightful Museum at Debach got some stuff….I acquired some….it was a beautiful little museum….I have photos somewhere if anyone is interested.
Fine Graham. My amusement only comes from the fact that it is one thing to say flutter relationships are known/understood and another to say that every learnt that! Flutter still catches people out. Sometimes it may be a modification or store or whatever that could have an undesirable/’foreseen’ consequence. I have my notes from 1984-89, but I don’t think we are really disagreeing. I have been out of fixed wing flight test for 18 years now – firmly entrenched in rotary wing!
I still don’t think the nose tufts are to do with CO….more to do with the shroud. I will dig out my old Tyffie accident report.
