    I go up the A303/M3/M25/M11 to Duxford for FLs as well as some other shows. But I tend to stay overnight.

    Funny how this thread can degenerate into the ‘use Map vs use GPS brigade!’.
    I have both ‘nav aids’ in my car, if I am picking up someone en route, it is far easier/less stress to have their post code…who would not want a less stress journey/life?!….only a Yoghurt!!!

    fascinating…more pumps to lower than raise….you would have thought that once the uplocks are released, gravity would help greatly.

    Echoing Mk5 & Mk12’s comments, the restoration of P9374 is impeccable.

    Anyone who criticises restorations and how little of the original is used, should see the lengths they have gone to to make her perfect. They borrowed my flap gauge to replicate it!

    I have a uc pump if you need any detailed measurements old chap!

    Will do Julian….it was quite cheap in the end too….staying in the pub was brilliant.
    To do justice to it all would probably need several days.
    Next time, I will take my BoB book with me so that we can target ‘extras’. The itinery was varied and encapsulated several museums and things that would give a flavour of the Battle.

    Many thanx for kind comments chaps.

    We are planning another trip next year to include Croydon, Kenley and other places mentioned.

    We will also be taking two case histories, one Few, one Foe and following them from take-off to loss etc.
    I have studied the BoB for all my adult life and it is a vast and fascinating subject.

    Hope you have a great time Wondy…on Sunday we will be at the delightful Shoreham Aviation Museum run by Geoff Nutkins….as this is the last day of the BoB we have planned a superb BoB pilgrimage!

    If you head back clockwise on the M25, pop in to Geoff’s museum as it is absolutely delightful and the cakes are fab!!

    Have fun and look forward to seeing your pix!

    Near me, the youngest flight test observer was killed…he had just turned 16 years old (local ATC lad). His test aircraft (an upkeep modified Lanc) collided with an Oxford during a pressure error run.

    He was buried in an unmarked grave (his parents were seperating at the time and apparently argued over the costs)….I plan to right this wrong one day

    Excellent Alan!! That is my most hated scene!! The door bell, tulip outside light, 2 part glas door and garadoor all in one scene!!

    Lanc exhaust…would look a treat with bilt hamber removing corrosion
