you forgot the ‘some’ before ‘uk aviation enthusiasts’ old chap…..don’t tar us all with the same brush!!
if they are white nylon they are the best…4inch diameter about 150 kg each IIRC, 5 inch are 200 kg each IIRC (the ones I use)
looks like the ratings are higher on the website 250 to 500kg each!!!!
I must buy some more as £5 is quite a good deal!!!
I was extremely concerned that it was going to be a character assassination of Johnny Kent and Kellett
A local yard does decent flexello wheels at £5 each, I designed a trolley and a local firm charged £80 to make it!
Hi Kiwinz, yes I remember now……I am sorry I did not reply, it was not for being rude….I just did not want to burst your bubble! It can be so sad when someone does that. A few years back, I saw a manky harvard grip masquerading at a show as Eric Bann’s! The grip was so wrong.
I often get asked to value items etc and sometimes it is difficult to do so without upsetting someone, which I do not like doing.
A few photos….
first is a mag alloy AH2040 grip
second a BoB AH2040
third a BoF AH2040
I thought it might be in the Ebay thread…however, it is possible for posters to delete threads/their posts so that may have happened
I have been looking for the advice I gave before on this item. I thought it was on this forum.
Mk1 Hurricanes used an AH2040 grip that was near 100% aluminum. Ergo, they do not readily corrode even when burnt. The early Hurri grips used thermoset ‘bakelite’ type covering. The later magnesium alloy grips used a cloth binding as a base to the grip covering. This can be seen on the grip in the photo.
I really did not want to burst anyone’s bubble, and thought more than twice twice about posting. However, I hate it when I have a grip that may not be as pucker as it could be. Are the dog tags Tom Gleave’s?
Even so, a grip in that sort of condition is still worth about £300 – £400. If the part number is good and viewable then it could be a bit higher.
I am sure I have been asked about this grip before.
Think its worth a bit more than £150 quid 😀 .. its quite tidy, and even though theres lots missing, but theres still quite a bit inside it .certainly restorable, and am i right in saying the Only F2 cockpit in the country ??:D
Nope, I have WN890!
fancy Roger having a rear end!!! He will be pleased!!!
And to think Mercedes produce this car at a loss…..oh dear you have to be a sad individual to buy a smart car let al:diablo:one delete this post (HAR HAR) Mercedes lose £4865 per car produced ( on the smart car line) and the owners well i think they lose their dignity:D
There speaks the uninitiated!!! I have had two, I may be eccentric but never ‘sad’ IMHO! They go well and are fun. Mercedes and Swatch developed the initial version of what is now the ForTwo. The money losers were NOT the Fortwos but the ForFours and Coupe/roadsters.
very nice Ian….where did you get it from?
early Hawker looks right….the **** penis looks like a air line shut off….similar units on Mk2/IV for the cannons
very very nice old chap….well done
Beef works just as well!!!
