Hi All, would anyone here know what size/length screws attach the Mk2* gunsight glass brackets to the main body?? I’m guessing 6BA by about 5mm long but I could be way off!!! Second Question is where are these available to buy from?
Cheers,
Chris
I may have some suitable ones, to be specific, are you taking about the small screws that hold the completer combiner/reflector head to the lighting unit body?
so would I! Ian!
no pix til first day of fest…..so be there!
Update:
Spitfire cockpit now is upright for the first time in 5 months, frames 6 thru 13 attached to top and bottom longerons, bottom skins fitted, control box 25% fitted. Internal silver finished. Frame 5 40% finished, being assembled.

gives some more on the bullet!
good old 285….Welly….
the screw in the base of the head denotes a deWilde round which is a phosphorous tracer round…do be careful…there is a small ball bearing and picric acid in the tip/point.

gets my vote too, the v shaped item in one of the phots goes that way…look for items starting 285….is this in a foreign land JC old fruit?
I have always hated the fact there are unscrupulous people out there who seek to dupe buyers with things that are not what they seem.
The reason people are so annoyed is that all collectors are passionate about collecting….add to that the passion that goes with thehistory of aviation and things like the BoB (which is really a disease in many of our cases)…..spending a bunch of dosh on something you are passionate about and revere leads to huge disappointment and disillusionment when the truth outs….it also makes one question other items in your collection. The other dimension is that the item masquerading as another part becomes part of the illusion and loses its history….only one winner here….not the collector, not the hobby, just the nob….
Thanx Tangers for bringing this to our attention it is a laudible service you have done. The fact that the accused does not stand up and explain speaks heaps.
Bargain. Try manufacturing them. 🙂
Market forces. Too many cockpit/panel builders.
Even thirty years ago these were hard to find.
Parkers had boxes and boxes of new BFP assemblies/kits, most with the mounts missing having already been sold on.
It is a consumable for the flying fraternity

Those naughty cockpit/panel builders!!! Joking apart, all my ones are U/S….I would suggest that static projects should pass off S items in exchange for U/S items….its what I do…though I should say I was badly bitten when a operator swapped me a nasty U/S post war suppressor for my lovely S 1940 era suppressor….(the time between me passing my S item to him and receiving the U/S one being a few weeks).

they cut the chain to get in when there are many other things on site, drag strip, microlights, bike training, lots of things to take to the scrap man, by the way this is not an advert please stay away.

mmmmm! Yep very sad you have had the tail boom nicked….but I would like to think our forumites would not be naughty….
similar to that on a Tempest or Tyffie throttle box
There is an awful lot of steel in that gauge for a clock….
