Interesting and salient points to learn…..concur with Roobarb’s comments on the engineer, very brave and with great presence of mind…..

Whilst PR is a great singer too, my Dad downloaded some Queen from ITunes for my Mum’s IPOD, she was horrified and shouted…’Thats not Freddie!!!’

Mine would be my Grandads medals and logbooks, but they are items with more relevance to my family…..so I will put forward the best spade grip I have ever seen in my almost 30 years of collecting….a cracker off a Hurricane that I acquired a month or so ago!

    Spade grip part# – AH8068
    Brake lever – AH016068 made by JD&SB
    Fire Button – AH016041
Cam Button – Ref No 5D/534 made by A(crown)M

I’ve purchased this about 15 years ago in a box of “junk” with items from the late 1950’s, early 1960’s, in Seattle, Washington, USA. Thanks

What you have there is a beautiful later Spit/Seafire spade grip old chap…a real peach too!
Look on my website and you will see the same grip fitted to my Seafire cockpit and also destined for my Spit too!!! You will also notice that it is immaculate compared to mine!!!

These grips are becoming rare and do command high prices. The 8068 was fitted to MkV onwards (when the cannon wing came in). The big unbutton has three selections: guns only, cannon only and the middle guns and cannon (heaven can’t wait as the late great Don Healey ex 17 Sqn told me!!).

Not a bad turnout really….good to see some old faces and some new ones!

Diff to organise a Forum meet, diff to know what peeps want. The best one was the original meet with Ashley at Dux when Robert Rudhall gave a chat etc…..saw some good shots from Dave ‘the Hornet’ Collins!! Stuart is looking thinner and more handsome and I must be a turkey as I am being fattened up for Christmas!!!
Anyway, sorry I had to leave early…bereavment in my girlfriends family.

Initial meet at 10, then suggest back up meeting at 1230 outside the plastic spit & hurri for group phot.
Ollie, we will use the forumites gathered to do a group phot and finish it with individual so that I can send it back to EN830 (may even photo the new BDAC projects on the camera too).
