    As he was a passenger, are you quite sure that it wasn’t a T7?

    could have been….Dad cannot remember….I shall do digging, as MB used/still use Meatbox ejection test aircraft, makes one wonder that one with live seats would be fine (though before anyone comes back….I am well aware of ballistic vs rocket seats and their respective seat envelopes….flown enuff in em for a start!)

    the problem being pilots couldnt eject safely because of its overall height and the mid set tailplane fins ?:cool: 😎 😎

    My Dad’s CO (he was marine craft) did not survive the baleout from a meteor (his pilot did) and hit the tail 🙁

    Not sure about the U.K. but inthe US, Hallmark Cards has been issuing historic aircraft tree ornaments for the last decade or so.
    They are about 3-4 inches long and are supposed to honor significant civil aircraft….(so far one has been military, a Curtiss racing seaplane).

    Some are:
    Wright Flyer
    Curtiss Jenny
    Spirit of St. Louis
    Laird racing plane
    Gee Bee racer
    Beech Staggerwing
    Spartan Executive
    Stinson Reliant
    and this year a Cessna 195…nice w/chome finish. The first postwar plane.
    And since they seem to be getting more modern, I’d like to see them make an early Model 35 Bonanza and some early light twins like the Cessna 310 or Aero Commander.

    Oddly, no Travelaires, Stearmans, or Cubs/Taylorcraft/Aeroncas.

    They’re nicly done with accurate finishes and even rigging where approrpiate.
    They sell for about $15.00

    Makes the tree a bit more fun.

    I have the Gee Bee it is complete with rigging wires and is only about an inch long!

    My Grandad (my Mum’s Dad) flew Cats with 190/210 Sqn and we dream of flying a sortie like you did!

    Tony, I have a couple of spare brass gear wheels that fix onto the airscrew lever,(on the throttle box) let me know via the usual channels; please note that I no longer accept incoming carrier pigeon,(we’ve all got to move with the times)…

    Farnborough had more than us at Boscombe. Many ended their days at Farnborough, in the USA or sadly, under the main runway at Brize Norton having been reduced by 6MU

    Sounds good to me, just to clarify, you mean the resturant on the side of the Battle of Britain hall? The CGW hangar should definitely be open, so 10am sounds good to me as it means plenty of time to wander around in there before getting chucked out. Finally got another chance to air my Beech Restorations shirt again!

    thats the one old chap…..of course i use restaurant in the loosest poss definition lol! last time i was there we were fighting over half a dozen dried tasteless cheese rolls lol! but i am sure it is better now lol!

    Aerodrome Road is closed until January, however I think that’s only in the direction going away from the museum, the way to the museum past the old gatehouse/factory/control tower seems still in use judging by the amount of traffic, so if you go that way to get there you should be alright. Oh, and if anyone doesn’t fancy paying the prices at the resturant, I know the way to a Burger King or the Oriental City building which is a kind of eat-in supermarket which is a very short drive away

    Sounds good, I suggest we meet in the overpriced restaurant at first, suggest around opening time 10am? It would be nice to see if the CW hangar is open?!
    People may wish tobring some photos of something they are involved in be it writing, preservation, photography, modelling?
