Top left is the pitot divider that goes on the back of the blind flying panel and feeds the ASI and Altimeter

Sorry chaps, late on parade with this one.
CockpitFest was great, as usual, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself as did 3 generations of the Dyer family.
It is grass root aviation heritage, yep understand that it is not always every ones cup of tea, but it is anoying when banter turns sour.

Some armchair enthusiast twit dared to call my hobby pointless (with no provocation whatsoever) whilst he builds plastic kits….at the end of the day my Hurricane project has put airworthy parts into at least four airworthy Hurricanes, one Gladiator, one Lancaster, umpteen Spitfires blah blah blah….so even if people cannot see the point, it does help in many other ways.

Well done Stuart, if I had had a £1 for every photo of your spit taken, I would be able to retire!

I’m interested in the “barriers” around the aircraft. Are these commercially available or are they an in house production? Do they work?

When I went there I saw they were what looked, felt etc like Osma square guttering….pretty good and cheap I think.
Obviously one has to think what the barriers are for. You will never stop someone who wants to get over, but they do show where the public should stay.

My Favourite Manoeuvre in the Wessex was the Quick-Stop, we’d come over the hedge at 50ft/90kts, the Captain would call: ‘Quickstop, Quickstop, Go’
The tail goes down, the Aircraft stops very quickly, I would clear the Captain for final descent and then talk the tail down and then the mains…

If the Student Pilot fluffed it, the Instructor would take over, perform a wing-over (60 degrees nose up, 60 degrees bank), and then do a downwind Quickstop, which was even sharper.

The first time that happened I was standing out on the step…..quite a shock to be outside the aircraft when performing a manoeuvre like that 😮

Did one at Llyn Brenig over the dam in the 90’s in a Chook (a steep wing over….cool!!). Only flew in the Wessex once, pity
