    cheap and worth buying to. What do you guys expect for £600!!!

    It is the depreciation your brandnew average car loses per hour after you leave the garage at 3pm to closing time that day! It would nt pay a decent service on a mid range car. It would only fill your car tank 10 times (if you are lucky)

    I suppose this thread shows how there are people that do, people that dont, people that winge, people that winge and do, people that winge and dont and people who just plain criticise! Each and everyone of us know which group we belong to! ;o)

    I am pleased to be in the Shack buying group. It is nice part-owning a bit of a big lump of Shackleton! The last aircraft type my grandad flew in service

    I am thinking about doing a Spitfire display….hopefully with the help of Stuart G and others….it would be centred around ‘Spitfire – The Legend’, a bit like a Christmas Carol tribute to the Spitty…past present and future and what makes it such a legend. Obviously using cockpit stuff and supporting displays…..and focussing on what the public think!

    Interesting thread. It is worth £2k. I would leave it like it is. It is a nice piece and would restore nicely.

    Cannot believe some of you n’er do wells dont believe it is worth the money!!!
    That money would not even buy the flying controls for my hurri!!!

    It isn’t worth 2K. 200 perhaps, if you want to spend years fixing it up, and it will be years!

    £200!! You are having a larff!! The ejection seats alone are about £250 each! 🙂

    Granted it is heartbreaking given its condition when it flew in…..but someone on this group could save this cockpit. It is a far easier and manageable task to save this section than it is a whole Vulcan.

    I cannot warrant saving another cockpit as I have far more than I can manage! But how about some of you others?!

    If, as is likely, it does not sell this time round, it should be relisted. If I was that pub landlord, it would make a nice accompaniement to my Sea Harrier!! Just think of the extra publicity!

    you sit between the spars, on top of them. There is no room for a dog beneath the seat, it would be the ultimate loose article and would directly impinge on the flying controls…not good! The Hurri has no floor, anything dropped goes to the lowest point, again not good. It just has two heel boards.

    Well, i waz gonna suggest we all chip in to buy it. 😮

    But as were still short on £1K for the Shackleton, i think £2K is out of our depth perhaps ? :confused:

    I thought it was a £1000 to buy the Shack nose? When I return, I am sure we can move it cheaper than a £1k? Sorry to go off topic slightly

    Directly under the seat is the cross brace diagonal tubing from Jt C back to H1, this makes a V below the seat. Also there is the aileron torque tube, drum, elevator push rod and elevator crank….i.e. all the flying controls.
    Also there is the back ends of the heel boards.
    So there is negligible room below the seat. Also one would have to think of ways of servicing and repairing such a tank!
    There are better places to locate such a tank (though only small and would give balance problems), however, in peacetime the range of a Hurri is sufficient.
    If absolutely necessary I would pop on drop tanks…much nicer! I will post pix of the room under the seat of P3554 if you wish later.
