the rest of the wording is ‘use no oil or grease’
oxygen c0ck tap….sits on either the top of a oxy bottle or on a oxy supply c0ck…..fitted to many types
The stainless grip is a Hawker bipe….something like a Hind, Fury, Demon…..the second fits to many types including the Sea Fury…need the AH number to be more specific
Agreed Steve, a fantastic event the Hurri event was….well worth the money and a good cause…..
can you post a photo of what you want a grip to fit to? I have seen a Tornado GR1/F2 grip in the stores of a scrapyard…though it is expensive!!
Are you telepathic Paul!?
very nice Anna!
a couple from CAF 2008
we did 3 days last year and were so much more relaxed!
being in Singapore at the wrong time?
looks like fast boat (cruiser/gin palace) fore and aft trimming button to me…like used on fairlines….rivas etc! boat collector!
Yes, for an example ther might be huge differences saftey wise between a Spitfire, Hunter, and Harrier cockpit re levels.
As a basic question though, can an instrument panel really push out as much radiation as some houses have existing within them naturally?
depends on number of instruments and the sources. 2 sources together do not give 2x the dose….but a greater amount.
When I had a huge collection of instruments (pre-divorce) a geiger counter could be used to find the room where it was all kept! I decided then that, despite affect on health being small, if I collected stamps my daughters and dog (and wife until 5 years later!!) would have no risk at all.
It is difficult to give ball park measures….I did a big study around that time, but it depends on glass thickness, paint thickness etc
“My second concern is that I am completely broke, for years I have spent every euro I had for this fascinating hobby.”
Ooops. Hobbies should remain under your control, not vice versa.Regards,
You are clearly not a collector JDK!
JDK et al…..it is an emotive issue….it is a case of tossing up between a perceived risk and history. We do not need or want kneejerkism….I served on the BAPC commitee and wanted them to help more in the arena as not all museums have/had money to spend on disposal schemes (better not get into historical side). What we do not want is people taking disposal or other schemes into ther own hands. Sometime ago I read of a place in US that had radium levels in water supply….not what you want. People on the sidelines can always have their own opinion (and often do!). But is an emotive subject….I left the commitee because IMHO it did not do enuff for the poorer museums or collectors. The clock industry negotiated exemptions in the UK. Not so easy for an instrument panel with 20-50 potential sources….but a sensible compromise can and should be found.
A true historian would be disappointed if historical matter was lost for ever in a willy nilly fashion…..if the nails on Victory were radium would everybody be so quick to suggest digging a big old hole and burying her?!
Just picked up on this thread, I always decided that if i had problems, I would return the items to the government that wrote specs for them, used them, and then released them to an unsuspecting public….put em on No.10 doorstep!!
Seriously, they need to be proven dodgy…not all are….if kept in a big enuff dimension box or sealed box….nothing ‘dodgy’ leaks out……apologies to the pedants, spelling and grammar police as I have jst come out of hosp….
dont suppose you want piccies of relics old chap? I have one the extractor chute’s from the flyer, HDD, my prized control stick, flap hinge from the one that hit the bridge, a gauge…..now that my Corgi TSR2 model has arrived….I HAD planned to photo it all as an ensemble…however, the model delivery slippage time meant I got it sent to my parents! lol!
Yoiks!
Rocketeer has just come out of hospital…..and he collects instruments!
What further proof do we need?
Seriously, hope you are on the mend Tony.
cheers old chap!
However, it would be amusing if the kidney stone comes back from analysis as solid Ra 226!!!
