Oh dear! I thought Mike’s comment ‘you couldn’t make it up!’ was a pun associated with loreal – silly me!!
To be fair, not sure that area has been used for anything but storage and temporary uses (sim stuff, quilts, vintage fairs, hair/makeup, auctions etc). I can understand the money raised being good for the IWM.
However, the Lottery Grants were originally brought in to (amongst other reasons – depending on the grant’s use) widen public access/benefit from heritage. Like another recipient, not sure it is cheaper for the average punter to have access now – (also case for opera and ballet – also big recipients). It is tad disappointing that British Aviation Heritage appears low on the IWM’s priority list (witness Shack etc).
This is an interesting topic to debate – might be better for a moderator to pop these posts into another thread to avoid ‘ruining’ this one?
