Sorry guys, but one facet of this forum that does disappoint me is the cynicism. An outsider, not knowing some of the characters, could be forgiven for thinking that there are those here that are keen to criticise and assume people doing great acts of preservation/recovery are ‘idiots’ just pressing ahead. Sure, this is a very challenging recovery and could yield a very poor condition Do17 – but I dont care. I am delighted they are trying.

It is almost like some people here want such endeavours to fail – this is very sad in my eyes. I just wonder what sort of threads would be running if something like Glacier Girl was being recovered?

Some will say they are being ‘realists’ – that is fine – but it comes across as very negative to me.

I wish the same kind of spirit/people would recover the P38 off Wales.

Anyone who is even slightly thinking of flying with Collings, go for it! They are a lovely bunch of guys and gals, they make you welcome and really deliver a fun and thoughtful experience. It also allows you to see a bit of what it was like flying in and ‘living’ in a warbird. It really is living history.

it is mag alloy, prob from Elektron…..I would never want to cut one in that material!! Just use ally!!
