    Or even http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_Gun-Laying_Turret

The usual retort at this point to the OP – ‘is why not just Google it yourself’!! However – in this festive season I would not dream of saying that 😀

The Sunderland was still in the UK until 1993 and definately displayed at BH in 1990.

I’ve got photos of D-FEHD as 15+< so that must be a definite yes

Can you post that picture pleae Tony – I just have no recollection of it being there, in fact my memory was that it departed back to Germany the previous week, flown by Walter Eichorn.

I remember the Sunderlan display now – and Tony Bianchi’s display in AR213 was superb – but how can BM597 hav ebeen there – it would have been at Audley End at that time (dismantled) and did not fly until 1997. Also, I’m sure Buchon D-FEHD was not there either (we would have been looking after it as we had the previous weekend) – its sole appearance was at Boscombe for IAT.

I’d vote for the second batch being 1990 too.

I’m not sure Tony – I do not recall seeing the F7-F there that year (or the Corsair for that matter) and I would certainly have remembered the former….

I may be wrong but I am sure I read that around that time.

You are correct – it refers to John Watts, who was sadly killed in a RAF flying acccident.

The Tigercat is not G-RUMT, its the Plane Sailing example, N6178C. It was back in the US by late 1992.

If you go on one of the Dutch spotter site archives they’ll probably tell you what the pilots ate for lunch that day…

Now you mention it – I think they laid on a cold salad buffet in one of the hangars…. :p

    ML407 is G-LFIX, PT462 is G-CTIX.

Does anyone have any idea who was in the cockpit of PT462 if it is indeed 1990?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Dean

It most definately was 1990, PT462 only made one appearance there in Charles Church (Spitfires) ownership, post 1989 (and it could not possibly have been 1989 as the TFC Hurricane did not make its first post restoration flight until September 1989). IIRC it was Dave Mackay flying PT462 (he flies with The Shuttleworth Collection these days).

Mark V PM me your email and I can send you a higher res copy if you want?

Can anyone help with a show list including registrations? Trying to ID the aircraft now!!

What date was it in 1990?

    Thanks

    Richard

Hi Richard, I think it was 16th/17th from memory – it was a week or so after the big IAT show at Boscombe Down. We had Hispano Buchon G-HUNN at Biggin too.

    PM sent! 🙂

It was 1990 – great year, great weekend 🙂 First appearance by the TFC Hurricane too.

Just realised – thats me under ML407 with Dick Melton – we were looking after it that weekend (Pete Kynsey was flying).

Do you have any information on the bubble the engine is in?
What’s it for, what’s it do and how do they keep it inflated as it looks to be just sitting on the floor?

These items are designed for protecting historic cars and engines. The bubble is inflated by a small fan and electric motor attached to one end. This is permenantly on and the air flow pressurizes the bubble a little to keep it ‘inflated’ and ensures that there is always air moving across the preserved object – this is basically how it works. The air is just the room air, not conditioned in any way.

These just fished on ebay, looked a bit wrong. The G and 3s don’t look like a wartime AM font. Any thoughts?

See your point – but the seller seems certain they are original.

Presumably by someone keen to sell you one at a premium.

    😀 Bruce!
