Sat morning at about 11:00hrs a Spitfire did a nice Victory roll over my house south of SantaPod heading North to Sywell ?. It was all done at a safe height and looked and sounded really nice ,thank you. It was brown/green colour scheme and I am wondering if it was a Duxford machine ?
Thanks for the Dan Air CK photo. Spent many happy hours on the flight deck ,my father was a Captain on them out of Luton and then 727s out of Manchester.
The Catalina purred over my house heading east to Duxford about 13:25hrs yesterday from Podington direction. Sounded very smooth. Nice to see a flying boat around these parts.
Thanks Bruce, The aircraft is starting to look good, I like the camouflage looks more authentic. Well done team.
DCW,
Would be grateful for any update on the B-17G restoration ? Dying to know its new Group markings. Thanks
Upwood was used for filming “Appointment in London” Hemswell was used for “The Dambusters”. The film “Night Bombers “was shot at Hemswell in 1944/5 and is in colour. Best documentary film of Lancaster operations . Hope this clears up any confusion.
Despite the biting cold NE wind a fantastic turn out for the opening ,the car park was full. A great thank you to Peter Teichman of Hangar 11 who gave a wonderful display in Spitfire XI PL965 from North Weald. The B.E.2c,Fokker Triplane and 2 Tiger Moths were parked close to the fence for the audience. Well done Ben and helpers in the new extension and to the vintage WW2 vehicles , Pitsford Home Guard and the girl singers for making it a good event.
Nice to meet G-ASEA and Low N’Slow. 🙂
The normal car park will be full of military vehicles will we be parking in the farmers field opposite like the Airshow day ? Thanks:)
I shall be there looking forward to meeting other forumites.
