    Until the investigation comes out give the Captain space. After the accident he was clearly in shock. People react differently under stress and shock . This needs to be remembered.
    All accidents are a chain . The chain started from the earlier request to sail close to Giglio. Locking up the captain is not the right move. Reviewing the whole safety aspect of cruise ships is . Lifeboats are ineffective if the ship topples over. Lifejackets kept in passengers rooms. A proper safety brief before setting sail. Better crew resource management on emergencies like the airline industry have.

    Their life is not based on flying hours but surely pressurisation cycles ? They must be very close to expiry due to age.

    Very sad news . I flew this aircraft 1989 at Syerston and 28 Ventures out of the fleet total of 40 of the Air Cadets totalling 921 hours on type on 616 ATC Gliding School Henlow 1982-1993.
