    All these accidents occurred at RAF Shepherds Grove, no further details available.

    I have the identity of the Bourne Ju.88 as an A-5 model of 8/KG1 coded V4+B5 captained by Uffz A . Becker 04 May 1941.

    Off thread Folkingham airfield was used as a temporary relief landing ground for No.1 Flying Training School,Spitalgate,Harvards 7.47-2.48. Harvard FT353 undershot landing there 26/11/47. Later RAF College Cranwell used it as a RLG 9.56-8.59 for piston Provosts from Barkston Heath. Its use was stopped when it became a Thor missile base from 1960.

    The Lancaster File by Air-Britain has ED324 serving with 1656 HCU/1662HCU/ 1 LFS/1662 HCU To 5290M 7.45
    ED323 was with 1661HCU but went to 15 Sqdn and shot down Berlin 28.1.44.

    The Bourne Incident(pun there) occured May 04th 1941 a Ju88A-1 was shot down by fighters and crashed onto the Butchers Arms, Eastgate, Bourne The Licensee and his wife Mr & Mrs Lappage and some billeted soldiers opposite were killed.

    Yes he deviated off course its happened ! fait accompli…. Now we must look to the investigation and much better cruise ship safety practices to stop this happening in the future. Sh*t happens.

    Instead of speculating I urge everyone to read an article in todays Daily Telegraph “Is human weakness a crime ?” by Theodore Dalrymple.
    I quote ” Can we be sure that if Captain Schettino had kept calm and carried on,fewer people would have died ?
