I have found further reference to a Bobcat at Angers http://francewarbirds.free.fr/en/associations.html so i suspect this is OO-TIN, at http://www.musee-aviation-angers.fr/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1
Aero-Retro based south of Lyon,France http://www.chez.com/aeroretro/
European Wrecks and Relic’s states that OO-TIN had been acquired by Aero Retro at St. Rambert d’Albon,France by 1984. Has any one further updates ?
Thanks Blue Robin.
Ancien, Try this link: http://www.asa-be.com/photogallery_BCR.htm it may help.
Thanks Avion ancien, I was on a long 14 hour night shift so you can make mistakes. I too found the photo’s superb and it is a very well put together history.
Wonder if it was a multiple bird strike after take -off ? and Biggin Hill may have to review their Departure routes to take departing aircraft over more open country due to the large urban areas now in the area.
Have found this link but i don’t understand Belgique ! http://www.airfield-ghent.be/research/index.html#bv000006
BP Balliol and Hawker Tempest V.
Serial should read DS839 the aircraft was based at RAF Wombleton,Yorkshire.
I have now found what I believe is the aircraft in question. A Lancaster II DS389 of 1679 HCU ,Stalled and burn’t at Segenhoe Park,Ridgmont on 23.1.44.
The Hampden belonged to 50 Squadron and was returning in bad weather and short of fuel . The Lancaster at Tingrith came down near the Redcap Cottages. The Beaufighter X7872 was in the Cranfield circuit at 1,000ft and lost control coming down at Crawley Hill farm in Mill Rd on 22.1.45.
Thanks for the Beverley photos. My father took me to an airshow at Yeadon in 1961,I can remember the DC-3’s parked over by the hangars.
Depends on the life of GRP structures ?
