As P/O Nat Barry lost his life only a short distance from our museum, and his Hurricane came down even nearer, it was natural that we should, in 2002, carry out an excavation at the crash site. To our surprise, and dismay, it was obvious that an illeagal recovery had been carried out in the early nineties, as proven by the ‘best before’ date on a soft drink can left behind. Ours had been the first and only licence granted for this incident. Follow this link for more information http://www.shoreham-aircraft-museum.co.uk/V6800.htm Contact was made with Nat’s family, and a piece of his Hurricane was given to his sister.
This photo shows the display of items recovered from the crash site, which was on display at Hall Place, Bexley, this summer.
Cheers MMitch.
Sounds interesting. Any more info on the book?

The Duxford Autumn Air Show
This is generally regarded as the last of the ‘big’ Air Shows. CCB will be launching a very special book ‘The Other Few’ by Larry Donnelly. This book is about Coastal & Bomber Command activities during the Battle of Britain period. Pilots confirmed to attend include: JACK TOOMBS, TERRY CLARK, ROGER MOREWOOD, ALBERT GREGORY, ROBERT HAYLOCK, MARK NIMAN, ANDREW JACKSON, ‘TINY’ COOLING & GEORGE PARR. Also signing will be the author LARRY DONNELLY as well as the artist MARK POSTLEWAITE who designed the cover of the book.’
I expect that there will be others at other stands.
Geoff.
Thanks James & Steve, but I’m only a small cog in the wheel. A lot of our success is down to knowing the right people & contacts with the veterans that have been built up over the years.
Geoff.

Still a year behind me!
Have a good one
Geoff
???
Forum meet at the Bomber Command Hall earlier this year. Andrew-O & JDK are at the back, and Kev35 at the front, but I’m not sure who the others are!
Geoff.
Sounds like something out of ‘Airplane’
From the Director’s comentary
‘I told them to blow up an old banger at Duxford, not….’
‘There’s no Escort…but they have got MEN ONLY’
G-HAEC in it’s first OFMC camouflage scheme as CV-H?
Geoff.
Wouldn’t the silverware & squadron ‘trophys’ go into the care of the Air Historical Branch, until a new squadron was reformed with that number?
Geoff.
Please note changes to those veterans due to attend.
